I have written for as long as I can remember, though I received most of my fiction-training in fandom rather than formal education. In fact, my degree is in math, believe it or not, though my true love is probably history.

(Do I still write fanfic? Maybe. :P What did/do I write for? Well, I am primarily an anime/manga fan and a gamer, but I've dabbled in book fandoms and other miscellaneous things too, and that's all I'll say about that!)

My tastes generally run all the way from the mainstream to the obscure. I read in all genres (and I mean ALL), but have a particular weakness for SFF and mystery. In no particular order, here are some of my favorite writers/creators...

English language SFF: Tolkien, George R. R. Martin, Ursula Le Guin, Diana Wynne Jones, Ted Chiang, Zen Cho, William Gibson, Peter S. Beagle, Andrea K. Host

non-English language SFF: Fuyumi Ono, Jin Yong, Yoshiki Tanaka, Nahoko Uehashi

Mystery/noir: Agatha Christie, Arthur Conan Doyle, Dorothy Sayers, P. D. James, Walter Mosley

Misc. writers: George Orwell (essays/nonfiction), F. Scott Fitzgerald, T. S. Eliot, Jane Austen, Edith Wharton, Khalil Gibran

Misc. storytellers: Hayao Miyazaki, Naoki Urasawa, Yumi Tamura
