I am a copy-editor and proof-reader of fiction. My experience covers most genres and all lengths of work from flash fiction to full novels. When I edit these stories I always try to keep true to the author's voice and as such I am not in the habit of rewriting whole sections. I will make suggestions or change the wording of a sentence here and there when I think it is necessary, but I encourage the authors to discuss these changes with me if they wish to do so. I love it when authors come back to me and discuss the changes I've made because then I know they go away happy with the finished product.

I have tried my hand at writing occasionally, mostly short stories, and I'm going to take part in NaNoWriMo again this year, but I don't have much belief in my ability and more often than not my stories get left unfinished, never to be looked at again. I am far more at home writing formal letters or journals.
