GAY ALERT!

So, I don't know if you know this or not, but this week is going to be HUGE in the LGBT community!

On Tuesday the 26th, the Supreme Court is going to hear a case on Prop 8, which is a ban on same-sex marriage in California. Then on the 27th they're going to hear a case on DOMA, which defines marriage as between a man and a woman and so same-sex couples don't get equal benefits.

So this is huge.

If the court strikes down Prop 8, then that means no state could have any statute against gay marriage. Or, more possibly, they'll meet half way and do that for only a certain number of states.

Then if DOMA gets striked down, then that means marriage will not be defined as between a man and a woman. That means that same-sex couples will receive every benefit that straight couples get. So if you're gay, you get married, then your spouse dies you get the same benefits as straight couples.

Anyway, if you text "MARRIAGE" to 30644 then you can receive live updates via text message of what's going on in the courts from the Human Rights Campaign.

Also, WEAR RED ON THE 26TH AND 27TH!

Anyway, that's my gay news for the day. Please spread it around! This is so freaking huge in the LGBT community!
