John R. Jenkins R.N.

My name is John Aka Angel and I have been writing and living poetry since I was about 11 or 12. I am also an artist in my spare time, lol. I used to be a commercial artist when I was younger and I had a portfolio of mine in a art show in New York City. Now I am a RN who works in critical care at night, so I am up late into the night taking care of patients on death's bed. When my patients aren't crashing and I have no meds or charting to do I am left to the silence of my mind, at this witching hour my thoughts run a muck so I to let them escape as I have time by reading and writing poetry. I have won some poetry contests in the past and been published but really I do not write for recongition but rather for the sheer pleasure and enjoyment I get from it. Poetry for me has always been a life safer, a way of self-enlightenment and self-reflection. I never have really written a poem in the traditional sense, I only try to silence the screams of torment, agony, and terror that has plagued my mind and heart for many years. I let the emotions build to a point of orgasmic explosion that flows in the form of words till all that remains is the silence of the night... I am happily married with three beautiful children, on the surface my life is a small piece of heaven, but deep down hidden in the shadows of the darkness the silent screams still haunt my dreams... I also love to critique and analyze, for me to walk in another's shoes, to see the world through different lenses than our own, is to gain prospective and truly grow with a greater sense of wisdom and strength. Ask me to review if you dare but beware I can see where the darkness and shadows hide within one's mind. Poetry is the window to one's own soul for those who are blind enough to see, I am as blind as they come, lol. I find that not everyone likes for others to peak in.
