On my first day there, I felt alone, despite us all being the same. With scarred up arms, broken hearts, reasons to die, reasons to fight. There was a boy, just barely below eighteen, leaving after hours of waiting. When his time came, he gathered the others and said farewell, then looked over at me. 

"Keep your head up kid." Simple as that, he went on his way. Three years later, I'm still fighting to live. My scars have grown and so has my pain, but I'm learning how to keep my head up all on my own. I'm learning, finally, how to live and stay alive.
