I am a full-time writer and illustrator, based in Ireland. I've produced over thirty books for various ages, with more on the way, from first-time reader to young adult (and old adult). My books have been translated into a dozen languages – sadly, none of which I can read (apart from English . . . badly).

I started writing when I was about six or seven and that obsession has steered me well clear of ever having a proper job. Before making a living as a writer, I worked in design, advertising, animation and as a cartoonist, punctuated by work as a pizza chef, DIY salesman and security guard. As a commercial artist, I drew or painted anything for anyone who'd pay, and on anything that would sit still long enough.

I write the kinds of stories I love to read, to explore the stuff I like to think about and I hope to catch readers who are at the same stages I was at when stories blew my mind and changed my life. And I'll keep writing books until someone stops me.

I've worked with a range of different publishers, including Open Road Media, Penguin Random House, Hachette, HarperCollins and Tor, among others. My titles include the MAD GRANDAD series for early readers, the FORBIDDEN FILES for confident readers, as well as novels such as the surveillance-state crime thriller, RAT RUNNERS, the alternative world clash of cultures, THE GODS AND THEIR MACHINES, the environmental cyberpunk dystopia, SMALL-MINDED GIANTS (DAYLIGHT RUNNER in the US), the epic fantasy stories, WAR'S HARVEST and CRUEL SALVATION, based on the online game KINGS OF THE REALM and my Irish steampunk series, THE WILDENSTERN SAGA; ANCIENT APPETITES, THE WISDOM OF DEAD MEN and MERCILESS REASON.

If there's nothing you fancy there, give me time, I'll get round to writing something you do. I always like to try new stuff.
