"The taste of death is upon my lips…I feel something, that is not of this earth." -
-- last words of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

I am Michael. First and foremost, I am a historian. After that, an amateur writer, and after that... Destroyer of Worlds.
But I digress.
There are several authors who have inspired me more than others: Brandon Sanderson, C.S. Lewis, and J.R.R. Tolkien. They are the reasons I love to write (I've been doing it almost as long as I have been historiating [is that a word? {no, I don't think so}]), though I think I may enjoy creating worlds more than I do writing about them. Though the Big Three are my inspirations, I still do like others books. The works of Neil Gaiman, Jim Butcher, David Eddings, Pratchett and Asimov come to mind.

A new chapter of The Book of Ruin as been uploaded. It's short (only about 700 words) and acts more as a place filler. I haven't had time to write a proper chapter lately, and I felt bad about having no updates. So, expect the next "real" chapter some time soon. The novel itself is about 5-7 chapters away from completion, which means–at the very latest–I'll be done by the end of April. I wanted to thank all you readers for your support, and for suffering through my erratic update schedule.
Uploaded a new chapter.
@SamanthaJR Yeah, it's always a lot of work if you actually create the language (like Paolini or Tolkien did) but I usually just refer to it as "their native tongue," or, "their own language," and then don't go too far beyond that. It gets the point across, at least.
I always consider giving my peoples different languages but then I think... nah, too difficult. They can have accents and that's as far as I go XD I'm so lazy. but then, my worlds are often relatively small
@SamanthaJR Plus it saves a lot of confusion. "I've traveled all across Heratia!" wait, is that a kingdom, a continent, or the world? Like, does it include continents we don't know about? Or everything? And how to people who don't speak your language know to call it that? Was there some giant meeting?
@MichaelJScinto Yeah, 'We've got to save the world!" sounds so much better than 'We've got to save Heratia!" (A word I just made up on the spot) :P
@SamanthaJR I posted on your wall? My internet is super buggy due to Sandy, I have no idea what I'm doing and what I'm pressing. But yeah, I agree about naming a world. It never sounds right. "The World" just has a certain ring to it.
@SamanthaJR Hah, I'm actually guilty of it as well. I think the difference between that and what I mentioned, though, is the fact that throughout history, people actually HAVE just referred to the world as 'the world'.
Just realised you posted on my wall, and it' looks like I'm talking to myself XD
And also, it always seems so childish when you make up names for worlds - they never sound right
