I'm a reader, a writer, a blogger, a book historian, a book collector and a bookseller. But that's not all!

- I left home at 17 to become a fiddler and a busker, inspired by the novels of Charles deLint.

- I named my eldest daughter after Margaret of Navarre, inspired by Alexandre Dumas's La Reine Margot. My youngest is named after a fairy queen.

- I used to be a competitive gymnast and still love acrobatic sports - I have done capoeira, contra dancing, kung fu and fencing too!

- I won Canada's 1st National Book Collecting Contest with my Dumas collection. I have 17 editions of The Three Musketeers alone, including one which is a purse!

- I was once made into a character in the Legend of the Five Rings gaming universe.

- I do all my own baking from scratch, including bread and bagels almost every day!

Of course, I am a devoted reader too. My favourite authors include Neal Stephenson, Frank Herbert, Umberto Eco, Hilary Mantel, Salman Rushdie, Alexandre Dumas, Michael Chabon and Susanna Clarke. Do I have to stop there? I could list great writers forever!

So, I've written a short flash fiction (less than 1,000 words) about Morley & Boots (from one of my SciFi shorts). I'm not posting the story to Wattpad right away because I'm using it on another forum, but I *am* looking for some beta readers.

@Shattered_Violet I would love to do that if I find the time! But I wonder if I'm too Aspie to do horror, you know? I don't find much of anything scary. And then other times, I write something that was just meant to be kind of weird and permanent and my readers are like "HOLY CRAP THAT'S FUCKED UP" and I'm all, wait, really? I guess. If you find that kind of thing scary. Maybe.

It would definitely be a challenge for me. ;)

I get you. I'm not going to judge the Sci-fi this time around. I figured with the Historical judging and running the Horror one, I don't want to overload my plate.  

Hope you decide to Judge with the sci-fi and enter the Horror one. I'd love to read your shorts in this genre.

@Shattered_Violet I'm undecided. :) Waiting to see how the Historical one goes... I don't want to do more than one SD again. Then I have to decide if I'm doing SciFi! And if I want to judge or not. Oi!
