Although I began writing stories as a child, it wasn't until the broadcasting of the BBC period drama, North and South, with the incredible Richard Armitage as John Thornton, that I decided to take the massive and very scary step of sharing my writing and the story I was writing based upon the characters but set in the present day over on the C19 message board. The story was called Past & Present. It was a romantic, modern day take written in the wonderful afterglow of this amazing series. I know people who write say that their characters have a way of taking over and writing themselves - in the case of Past and Present this was certainly the case. This story is definitely one that wrote itself. As it is a story that has been around for a good few years now over on C19, it is probably not new for some people, but it remains very close to my heart and I thought I would finally put it here and keep it here now.

A few months after completing Past & Present, I began to pen Fate & Circumstance - this time set in the period of the novel and adaptation. I chose to pick my particular continuation up from the time of the adaptation when Margaret visits the mill at the end and to go from there. As with P&P, the story will not be new for those who have already read it over on C19 over the years. I am currently re-reading the chapters of F&C which I first posted on the C19 message board with a view to following this story through to its completion at long last.

It's good to have you back.  I remember that I've started reading fate and circumstances about a year ago and heard that you were going to close your account.  I was so disappointed.  It's glad that you are back and brought with you Past and present, which i enjoyed so much.  Looking forward to read more of your stories.

What to say... what to say...?

I love your story.

North and south is basically the only fan-fiction I'd read. I'm almost done with past and present (LAST CHAPTER!!) And then on to your Fate and circumstance! I'll put it in my library and do what I can to promote it! People can't miss out on this!!
