My name is Susan Kaye Quinn and I write novels for young adults. My latest novel Open Minds just came out! OPEN MINDS (Book One of the Mindjack Trilogy) - Paranormal/SF - When everyone reads minds, a secret is a dangerous thing to keep. First chapter is here on Wattpad! OPEN MINDS on Amazon ($2.99): http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005Z1RRUU LIFE, LIBERTY, AND PURSUIT (a teen love story) - Love is sudden, fierce, and full of choices... Available on Amazon ($0.99): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003TSEJIE Also see my series: On Being a Writer ... About Me: I have a bunch of engineering degrees (including a Ph.D) and have worked everywhere from NASA to NCAR (National Center for Atmospheric Research). Now that I write novels, my business card says "Author and Rocket Scientist." All that engineering comes in handy when dreaming up dystopian future worlds or mixing science with fantasy to conjure slightly plausible inventions. For my stories, of course. Just ignore that stuff in the basement. I write from the Chicago suburbs with my three boys, two cats, and one husband. Which, it turns out, is exactly as much as I can handle. You can find me on Twitter @susankayequinn) way too often or on my blog at www.susankayequinn.com

Hi! Great to connect with you here on WP! :)
@Coyote13 Thanks! That's a great idea ... except I would be no use whatsoever. I've never really had writer's block. It's all I can do to tear myself away from the computer. Occasionally, I get stymied by plot points and such, and then I have to write something else (character profiles, background research, etc) to get going again. But that's all I've got! I've heard other people say they go for walks, or watch a movie, but for me it always comes back to the writing.

@AuthorSusanKayeQuinn I loved your book "On Being a Writer" and I think that you should put a chapter in there about how to get over writers' block. Because if there is one thing that drivers a writer up the wall, it's writers' block.

Got it, thank you very much.
@Heartmask12 Thanks for your kind words on Open Minds! I hope you decide to get it - as an ebook, it's not too expensive. :) And I'd love to read your story, but as a published author, I have deadlines I need to meet in order to get my next book(s) out. However, I've been posting writing tips in an ongoing series you might find helpful: http://www.wattpad.com/2587195-on-being-a-writer-a-series-about-the-journey-and Thanks!

@Coyote13 Yes! I think if you put your emotion into your dialogue (or the action), the reader will FEEL it, rather than being TOLD what to feel.
