And here's a slightly different version in 1st. This one has more details I think. "I did not look like a demon. People always described me as one, but as I peered out from under my hood, all I saw was my bright ruby hair and emerald eyes. My picture on the screen was an old one of when I was twelve and someone had managed to get my photo as I was running away from guards in a city. It was midmorning and the sun was still rising when I had come upon yet another call for my arrest. It did not surprise me, but I was at how long it had taken them to figure out where I was. Two years, a new record. Maybe I was getting better at hiding or they were just getting lazy. Maybe they had finally decided that I wasn’t worth all the trouble they usually put into hunting me down. I turned back to the screen on the fruit vendor’s table, eating a star fruit as I continued to watch the emergency announcement. “-Hadassah Liisu is extremely dangerous. Immediate sighting should be reported to the authorities as soon as possible and all possible contact with her should be avoided. She is reported to traveling and being trained in the dark arts with an ex-slave, Aarrah. They were last seen on Evanthe where they are responsible for the wild fire at claimed three Perrin and two Filesen lives.” I rolled my eyes as I moved away from the table, pocketing the half eaten fruit. That fire hadn’t been my fault, nor Aarrah’s. It had been the Salin’s fault of course, but no one ever thought to blame them in fear of retaliation. Anger brindled inside me as I gracefully moved through the crowd at the unfair rulers of my people. But not only that, now I would have to leave this small peaceful planet and relocate again. "
Here's it in 3rd: "SHE did not look like a demon. People always described her as one, but when Hadassah saw her picture on the feeds, peering out from under the shadow of her hood, all she saw was her bright ruby hair with gold highlights and emerald eyes. Her picture on the screen was an old one of when she was twelve and someone had managed to get her photo as she was running away from some city guards. It was midmorning and the sun was still rising in the cloudless blue sky when Hadassah had come across another alert for her arrest. It did not surprise her, only that it had taken them so long to figure out where she was. Two years, a new record. Maybe she was getting better at hiding or they were just getting lazy? Maybe they had finally decided that she wasn’t worth all the trouble of hunting her down? A warm breeze blew through the marketplace, playing her with long gray cloak. She realized it probably wasn’t the best disguise, especially now that there would be Perrin police arriving any day now- if they weren’t here already. We’ll have to leave again, Hadassah thought sadly as she moved away from the screen sitting on the fruit dealer’s table, thinking of the beautiful warm days out on the plains where she and Aarrah occupied a small, abandoned farm house. It was time to return back. Aarrah would want to leave as soon as possible. The thought angered her a bit as she moved gracefully through the crowd, keeping her head down and not looking at anyone in the eyes. She had come to love this small planet and its peaceful people who never bothered her. The crowd was surprisingly thick today, many coats and skirts bumped into her as she tried to get out. "
Thank you for the fan! ^_^ ~CrossOwl aka: Sara
You've never, but thank you. :3 *is tackle hugged* You're welcome, my critiquing doors are open for friends anytime. All you have to do is ask. :D
Hey! Long time no read! I've been doing well. I've been a bit busy with the "outside" world. We're getting new shelving and switching shelving around at the library. I packed up our entire romance pbk section on thursday. thankfully, it's a small town library. It was manageable. how are you? are the muses being kind? is school/work treating you well? I've been hit by the muse Twice!! it's unnatural. =D the first time was when i saw the defy the dark contest of figment. it was the chance to get published . . . maybe. they may renege and just give a prize. but the cool part was that the editor of the anthology will be looking at them. i have a 1 in 1020 chance. there are a couple of really good ones in the dross. i've read at least 30 of them and glanced at 40 more. anywho, i hope life and the fractious muses are treating you well. me
(cont) Geez, where were they being taken, to Siberia? Yah, I guess so. *nods* When you hear the horrors they went through. I’m sorry to hear you’re blocked. *feeds you chocolate, and watches you get hyper* ;D My writing is good! I wrote four new poems in the last three weeks. I posted three, and is pleased. ;))
Nata!! *hugs tighter* When you think of “the sweet-spot orbit” we’re blessed with. A little further out, and we are a ice-cube planet. Closer, we are burnt-bacon. I’d imagine the majority of celestial planets are frozen landscapes. Not so good unless you’re underground. Personally, I think we’ll start harvesting near earth objects first. A base on the moon will no doubt poop up. But we need some new source of super-fuel. I was watching some show on aliens, and people who worked at area 51. They talked about their power source. They called it “element 115.” When the aliens shot a certain type of laser at this fuel, it turned into “element 116.” Unspeakable power! It created some kind of gravity-well in space. So they would be in theory, going downhill riding the fabric of space. Boggles the mind what may be ahead in our futures, if we get to see it. Advances always lead to more innovations. Or a bomb like in Star Trek, where they turn a desolate planet habitable. Have you ever seen the Canadian sci-fi series called Lexx. It was great for a low budget production. Stanley Tweddle against the Giga Shadow. Him and two others travelled in a living ship called Lexx. When power and resources got low, they’d have to find a planet where Lexx could feed and power up. I was hooked on this unique idea, but they removed it from cable. The Lexx looked like a monstrous dragon-fly. Lexx was fully armed with a weapon that could destroy planets. It shot a wave of energy, not like a pointing laser. Complete with a captains seat and viewers screen. Stanley (I forget how) obtained the key for this craft. It was some type energy absorbed into his body. When he placed his hand on a censer in the Lexx ship, it took orders from him. A smart key he wasn’t supposed to have. Very funny series if you get the chance to check it out. How’s the writing going? Bye-byes xx ;))
NATAAA!! I didn’t forget about you! It been a stressful couple weeks with my mother ill. She’s doing better finally, thank goodness! I’ve been writing like crazy, to keep my mind off of things. >;O Create the world? Volcano’s that eject rivers of liquid gold? Mountains ranges made of solid ruby? Living gaseous anomalies which threaten the new inhabitants? Are your characters human, human-like, or totally alien? Interesting stuff. It must be hard to make something original with all the sci-fi shows covering every angle of our imagination? Your grandma drew? I bet there’s some cool stories behind those drawings? Have you seen them? How’s your writing going dear? Talk to yah soon m’dear! Bye-byes xx ;))
