I've spent my whole career working with words, first as a journalist and editor for newspapers in the UK, and now as an editor for a non-profit organization in Canada. After writing and polishing thousands of stories about real people, I thought it was about time I wrote about the characters in my imagination.

My first book, The Policeman of Secrets, was born when I misheard a radio broadcaster talk about what I thought was a "secrets" policeman in South America. From that mistake the idea and the characters took off, combining my love of history, steampunk, and writing.

Having self-published it first as an e-book and later as a paperback, and enjoying the positive comments I've received from readers, I'm looking forward to hearing what you and other Wattpad users have to say about it. I'll soon be posting it a chapter at a time, hopefully at least once or twice a week, and I'd be delighted to receive any feedback (and votes, of course!).

I have just uploaded an excerpt of my latest novel, the heroic fantasy The Mischief of Rats. The first four chapters are here, but the complete book is now available as a paperback from Amazon and as an e-book from various distributors.
