Why I write: I'm a fussy reader who struggles to find books worth reading. My shelves are littered with stories I can't finish. It's gotten to the point where if I want to be entertained by novels, I need to write my own. What not to expect: Stories you've heard before. Hyper-confident, hyper-competent heroes. Vampires. Zombies. Elves. Orcs. Fads. Cookie-cutter plots. Elegant prose. Wit. Happy, tidy endings. What to expect: Settings, cultures and creatures beyond your experience. Misfortunes. Mismatched, unrequited love. Feeble, fallible protagonists. Sympathetic, incompetent villains. Chaos. Typos. Open endings.

@EdZap5 I'm a self-taught musician who has played bass in about a dozen unsuccessful bands of all sorts, (country, mainstream rock, punk, alternative rock, experimental, ska/reggae), mostly during my college years. These days I play upright bass almost exclusively (some mandolin, too)--either bluegrass or straight-ahead jazz. Sonant is loosely based on some actual experiences and some of the characters are either real people or montages.
