I really like this, You don't loiter on description and balance it well. A great read! :D
I don't think there are too many words... I think the descriptions you use make it easier for the reader to imagine what's happening in the story.
You use too many unnecessary words, more complicated words aren't always the best, they can ruin the flow of the story.
