Discovered Love
Karma Juarez was just a little ghetto Brooklyn girl with the smarts to get into the best school in the whole country. Only one person at the school thought enough of her to be her friend, and that was her girl Amina. Amina lived in Brooklyn, but had never lived in a ghetto.
When Karma's mother leaves New York City in pursuit of a better life for them, Karma ends up staying with Amina's family. Just when middle school ends and Karma is on her way to Michigan where her mother has found home, Amina is gunned down in a mall, just trying to give her friend a memento of their times.
In Michigan, Kiely meets the one man to get through her tough emotional wall, doing the very thing she swore she'd let no man do. But as she lets him in, she realizes love deserved a chance to correct its first and failed attempt.
Tyrique had never wanted anything in life but to become someone for his mother. He just wanted to see her smile more and he wanted to be the best son a woman had ever had. He keeps quiet about his drug dealing, although his mother already knows what he's up to. She keeps her mouth closed as long as she knows he plans to get out the game soon.
When Tyrique and Karma meet, Karma is in mourning and is reluctant to talk to Tyrique. When he sees her in the hall and speaks, she walks faster. But when he finally wins her over, they feel they found the missing puzzle piece and they discovered love.
