The Summer of Our Discontent (The Green Hill Manor Mystery, Season 1)

In an homage to various teen movies/TV shows such as Pretty Little Liars, the Secret Life of the American Teenager, the Breakfast Club, a group of teenagers investigate the disappearance of their friend and attempt to dodge various attempts made by various people to sabotage them. 13-year-old Shara Shinnok has left her home in San Francisco, California and moved to the city of Harrison Creek, Oregon. At the same time, Mara Llewellyn, Stuart Greer, and Irene Haughton are dealing with the disappearance of their friend/ringleader, Tanya Shinnok, when she fails to show up at their middle school promotion. But before they could properly mourn, Shara is introduced to them and several cryptic messages are tossed at them, claiming that Tanya has been kidnapped and no one is to go looking for her. The people living in Harrison Creek despise Tanya because of her mental disability and her perceived bullying. Shara reluctantly befriends Mara, Stuart, and Irene, who each are having their own problems. Mara had been very poor and lived in the trailer parks outside the city until she was forced to move to a "nicer" apartment. Stuart (who is an anarchist hell-bent on returning to his homeland of Tibet) misbehaves so much that he is removed from his foster family and forced to live with a White family. Irene busies herself with researching the life of their friend Pearl Tanner, who is known as "Pearl the Alien" to the citizens of Harrison Creek. On top of that, the Summer of 2010 turns out to be the worst summer of their lives, as the three kids are separated and Shara has to deal with her cousin's unwanted legacy. The kids will have to reunite with each other and ally themselves with Shara in order to find Tanya and solve the mystery.
