Jamie reached for him with a shaking hand. "Talon?" she whispered, tears welling in her eyes.
The aggressive man that she had grown to know as her protector shuddered, corded muscles popping with their tension.
Scars and abrasions graced his dark skin, the dim light highlighting the shadows of every crevice. She felt her heart shatter, drawing his head onto her lap. Jamie tried to sooth him, yet his rough shouts of pain penetrating the deepest parts of her soul
Her watery eyes looked up. Feeling her gaze freeze, she met the red eyes of their torturer, her blue depths turning icy with hate.

When Jamie is kidnapped while attempting to escape her violent ex-boyfriend, she doesn't know what to do when she is thrown into a room with a man that is closer to animal than human.
