Crimsons survive off the essence of life. When Sofia meets a prisoner at her uncle's facility, she is left wondering what exactly he is. For although he shares a similarity with the Crimson race, he is clearly different. Kai was forced through submission to hand himself over to Dr. Darrius for tests. After a year of putting up with their questionable methods of testing, he retaliates. Darrius starves him, causing the monster inside to fight to resurface...His blood is toxic, not only to Crimson, but to Humans as well. He has a lot of answers to find about himself...but more importantly, he has to realize that his mate may just be the only one to help him control his destructive self when he turns Silver...
