Most people don't understand how hollow a person can feel when they can't hear the sounds that the average Joe can hear, sounds that people don't appreciate, like the beautiful sound of a mother's voice, or the caressing nothing's that are whispered into your ear from your life partner. But then again not everything is lost, they still are able to maintain happiness and see more joy in the world than those who do hear. ~ A statistic report shows that about 2-3 people out of a 1,000 are born with a detectable level of hearing loss in one or two ears. Jayme Mackenzie is one of those people. Born with deafness Jayme never once was able to hear the voice of her father, who didn't abandon her like her mother, but stayed and cared for her since the news was found of her deafness. He slowly learned ASL (American Sign Language) along side his daughter, who didn't seem to mind being deaf; it's life. But what happens when she wants to attend public school and people only see her disability?
