Altsoba Montgomery is a lost soul. Losing her mother at a young age and on the verge of losing her father emotionally, she doesn't really know what to do with herself. She's just trying to get through high school in Riverwilde, California alive. That is, until the Bidziil family moves into town. Who is Ethan Bidziil? That's what Sobie wants to know. Ever since he moved to town weird things have been happening. Her best friend is growing more distant and yet closer at the same time; her father has suddenly taken an interest in her life, people are starting to disappear, she can't seem to stay away from Ethan and, even weirder, she's ... starting to change. Ethan isn't answering her questions. But when someone important to the both of them goes missing, Ethan realizes he can't hold out on Sobie any longer. Sobie's been living in darkness most of her life and now she knows why. It's time for her to move into the light of things and out of the Pitch-Black.
