The Things I Hate About Romance On Wattpad. I Think We Can All Agree

As a non-romance person myself in all actuality, I do try to keep an open mind though when reading romance stories. But it gets so hard to when people do these things over and over again and sometimes more terrible than another person.

▼Love interests meet at school and one can't claim the other so they meet in private until someday said character grows enough balls to be with that person in public. (REALLY. I'd be like screw this damn person, seriously?)

▼Love interests are werewolves and are mates. Nothing else left to be said....

▼Love interests HATE each other and continue to until AT RANDOM they fall for each other.

▼Asshole meets good girl. INSTANT LOVE

▼Nerd boy meets popular girl. INSTANT LOVE

So... I know everyone sees this. It's not so much as cliche as just a lack of inspiration. But hey, maybe it is just me.

@Musiq4lyf I have a romance story and I get tired of reading them. Haha. People need to start adding their own twists, though. The first one really irritates me. If the guy doesn't want to be seen with me in public, I'm not gonna waste my time. So it makes me mad when the characters do. -_-

If people just added some twists in and whatnot, the stories would be alright to read, but right now they all seem to fit into certain categories.

What else I hate is how predictable romance stories are. We are usually told from the description who ends up with who. What is the point of reading through all the drama they go through before they end up together? I mean, really? I guess that's what happens when you're used to fantasy and try romance. XD.

@Musiq4lyf My attempt at romance was Man-eating mermaid saves boy, gets exiled, meets boy, contemplates eating him, and then they fall in love. But it doesn't end happily. Lol it's the story that makes everyone cry.

@Musiq4lyf I hate that! People are abused and it's sad, but why does there seemed to be an abused main character in EVERY story? I mean, come on now!

I also hate the Stereotypical nerd cliche. I consider myself a nerd and I was never made fun of it because of that. People never went out of their way to shun me because I had glasses (I wear contacts now, but I had glasses from 5th grade to Sophomore year). And why are ALL jocks stupid? Granted that can definitely be true, but I've had quite a few athletic people in my honor and AP Classes and they hold their own just fine. I hate that people make their characters so one-dimensional. >.
