Not pointing to anyone in particular, I just think it's silly that everyone thinks the reason they're undiscovered couldn't possibly be because their story is cliche and about nerds falling for cheerleaders, or one direction. If every story is a gem, then no story is a gem. Because if everything was a gem, then being a gem loses its value. |

@Parogar "Kol is a model just starting her career. Her world suddenly changes when she gets cast to play the female lead in One Direction's music video, and she knew nothing about them before it. Everything about the boys just draws her in and finds herself in a position where she has to choose the one that not only wants her, but also loves her." o.o It's more terrible than I thought! |

lol. But it's true, though. If EVERY undiscovered story is a gem, then none of them are. There cannot be good without bad. We can't look at a story and say, "this story is great," without first having known that some are bad, |

@Parogar Check the actual history of gems better because I'm sure most start as geodes and the bigger gems are basically worthless, since it's the smaller ones that are always worth the most. So let's say it in this sense we all start off as a rock, take some time we start chipping away at the stone and we find jewels. However the jewels that catch our eyes are FAR too big and we assume they're worth a ton, but the honest remark is the smaller ones are the better choice since they shine best. Yet those jewels must be polished before ready to be sold and after polishing for an untold amount of time it's FINALLY proper to sell to someone. |

Now... you do realize the use of "gem" is metaphorical, here, don't you? :P |

@Parogar EVERY STORY IS A GEM! THEY JUST NEED LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS AND *takes a breath* and lots of polishing. :P |

I don't agree. I don't think any amount of polishing can ever make some of the Justin Beiber stories on here interesting. I mean, you could get Stephen King to rewrite it, and it still wouldn't be any good. |

@Parogar I know but still the same applies to the crap called gems. It can be viewed both ways. Either most of the popular's are crap or either most of the newer ideas are crap because they're both big in a sense. Popular's are big in numbers and newer big in ideas. |

@Parogar I love King's work but it would be another fart in the wind so says I! Because no one will care and it'll stank up the area. |

I normally agree with you on most things, but this time I've got to respectfully disagree. I think that there's a balance. SOME undiscovered stories are gems, but SOME are really just.... well, meh. Same for popular stories. Some are really good, and some really aren't. And then there's the so/so ones that lie in the middle. |

What I don't agree with is Wattpad defining an undiscovered gem as: "Any story that has less than X amount of reads." That sounds ridiculous to me. it defeats the purpose of there being a such a thing as "undiscovered gem." Because then I have to ask: What's the difference between a story that is undiscovered, and a story that is an undiscovered gem? In other words--in order for "undiscovered gem" to have any meaning, it has to be different than simply being "undiscovered" |

If you put polish on a turd, it's still a turd. If you put polish on a gem, it becomes a polished gem, though it's still a gem. |

@Parogar -_- didn't disagree I was stating it could be taken to the extremes not that I viewed it that manner. Geez...when it comes to jewels they're best left for the women and not for the stories honestly. Their numbers are SO odd I mean I was above you for a while and then after a day I'm back to where I was before like nothing happened. |
