If its a story about high school there is a cheerleader. Theres always a cheerleader, she pops up says something snotty to the nerd and really? Smh, all I can think is, this bitch thinking she can tell me my cheap clothes look cheap. Let's be honest this chick is bound to get her ass kicked by some angry girlfriend because guess what she's a slut too!

Really doh? End the madness!

@ForeverMalak The BOW (Bitchy Other Woman) is one of my 'favourites', where the heroes ex/ current girlfriend goes out of her way to chew out the poor, innocent new girl/ new love interest.

Also, the one you mentioned, and the fact that popular girls are either sluts or prudes, and bitches come to that. Also, the quiet, nerdier kids are always getting bullied by the popular kids.... It goes on and on.

As the cheer captain I can tell you with the sincerest honesty in my heart that my girls are some of THE nicest, smartest, sweetest girls in the entire school. Stupid/slutty/bitchy cheerleaders are unoriginal.

@xxmajaine right? Which is probably why they're so insecure and bully people. Jerks are different, lots of hot guys are jerks but there are really ugly jerks too. I just hate how everyone is always beautiful..

Well. in some ways I can relate, because the main character in the story who has a crush, feel that their crush is attractive in some way.. even if other's don't... I just.. stop overdoing it? (and I do so my self..)

I don't have cheerleaders at my school. Jocks yes, but they're not the uber cool people too.

Hmm... I don't think popularity even exists in my school LOL. I swear my generation is so hilarious they just DON'T care.

I hate that for someone to be 'smart' they have to be nerdy or just really studious. If you look at the top academic achievers at my school, most of them are outgoing, do at least one sport or other activity and are generally 'all-rounders'. Of course, you do find a stereotypical 'nerd' or two. Another thing, the antagonists are never 'smart' in most high school books, but why not? Just because someone's not nice doesn't mean they don't get good marks and such. For example, a few of the girls that I'm faaar from fond of (and it's a mutual feeling) do really well academically.

@ThePrimaDonnaWorld Think most teen stories forget the trademark thing that the villains or at least enemies as we see fit can usually hold their own in various ways, because they're not a stereotype. I avoided the stereotypes after the years prior together, because I was taller and they realized they had better things to do with their lives. That's what happens honestly people grow up and it just becomes a sad memory that some can't move past and act badly in return, while others grow up to be better than those that taunted them before.

1. The idea that all teens are stupid and angsty, raging hormonal rebels. I noticed that a lot from certain cynical adults and even in kid's shows like The Fairly Oddparents and other cartoons, lol. Now that I actually am one, I know this is far from the truth.

2. The Idea that All blondes are dumb (okay, doesn't really apply to males, but I know plenty of ditzy brunettes and gingers as well.)

3. The Whole Bullies due to abusive parents thing. It's a serious issue that affects people in the real world, but my dad certainly didn't bully because of it. It's a bit of an overused backstory, is all.

4. You either have to look good and be a mean prick or be unattractive and kind and smart. There are plenty of sharp looking and smexy scientists out there, people! (Like Kari from Mythbusters. *hoot hoot* :P) I mean, there's a severe lack of well rounded people in stories, lol. Teen Stories are so black and white with how they treat jocks and nerds! What's up with that.

5. The fact that bullies practically get away with murder (which is also unfortunately true in certain schools IRL) and somehow be popular. All it takes is pretty much one fight to screw you over in my school district. And the adults being so oblivious to it. My schools have cameras. Every time a jerk has been expelled from our school, they've usually become the punchline of our jokes. We don't look kindly on bullies, so why in this weird teen fiction universe are they somehow worshipped?

6. The fact that the adults are painfully oblivious and the teens can hide all these crazy incidents in an unrealistic amount of time. Tom Cruise would not have not been able to set up a business, fight against killer pimps, and manage to be accepted to Princeton University in a week like he did in Risky Business!
