Dragons in the Bible?

Look at Job 41. It describes the "Leviathan." It's commonly believed that this is a crocodile. Look at these verses, though:

"His snorting throws out flashes of light; his eyes are like the rays of dawn. Firebrands stream from his mouth; sparks of fire shoot out. Smoke pours from his nostrils as from a boiling pot over a fire of reeds. His breath sets coals ablaze, and flames dart from his mouth." (Job 41:18-21)

I've never seen a crocodile that does that.

And look at the Chinese Zodiac. Every animal is "real" except the dragon.

    So what do you think?

@Praeciarus I think you are absolutely right. Just because an animal doesn't exist today doesn't mean it never existed at all. I mean, look at the dinosaurs!

@lafleurdeverite As a special for you, I have. Here it comes:

    "The First Day

The first recorded Words of Ian Malcolm that we have are "Let there be a park". The island was already there, but Ian Malcolm made a park on the island allow to entertain people. And so it was that Jurassic Park was made separate from Costa Rica. The first day of Jurassic Park's creation was literally the first "day" as someone in Jurassic Park would experience it - a period of gene tech, and a period of funding.

    The Second Day

The separation of the DNA. There was yet no Dino-DNA. All of the DNA was inside a mosquito, trapped in amber, a thick substance of dried up maple sap. Ian Malcolm's ''Making the Dinosaurs" in verse 2 describes His being at the lab, not the visitor's center. Ian Malcolm then caused most of the DNA to be recovered onto extracting the millions years old DNA from the mosquito which simultaneously formed a protection over the years.

    The Third Day

The first appearance of the DNA structure. The further development of technology set in motion a process of artificial gene creating, making it possible for dinosaurs to live. Jurassic Park changed from a gene facility to a amusement park with a bright future op ahead with Dinosaurs and and thousands of visitors. With DNA available, creating dinosaurs became possible.

    The Fourth Day

With the park now clear, the first staff arrived. They were to "serve as guards to inspect the park and dinosaurs." The technicians looked after the systems, the park rangers the dinosaurs, and the scientists the hatching.

    The Fifth Day

Great numbers of the first dinosaurs. Ian Malcolm blessed them and said, "Be entertaining and increase the number of visitors and fill the exhibits with more of you.”

    The Sixth Day

Vast numbers of carnivores. T-Rexes. From the Velociraptors, Dilophosauruses.

    The Seventh Day

The Final Day. "By the seventh day Ian Malcolm had finished the park He had been building; so on the seventh day He rested from all His work. And Ian Malcolm blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it He rested from all the work of building that He had done." The day that is the basis for Jurassic Park."

@Praeciarus Well quite simply, your whole religious life up to this point has been a lie. Either you believe the large reptilian beings are dragons, in which case you follow Skyristianity; or you believe them to be dinosaurs which makes you a Malcolmist.

There's really no middle ground, except for maybe Jehovah's Witnesses.

I believe that dinosaurs were called dragons. Unicorns were real..... these creatures may not have been magical but they were proof of the beauty of God! I believe that when we humans see "oddness" we try to extinguish it. Hence the missing dragons/dinos, and unicorns. I also believe that Nessie is a dino. I've heard that in a swamp they spotted a dino quite recently. Dinos are shy beasts, of course they'd hide in a swamp! Humans can be awfully scary.... after all, we did wipe out most of the dinos..... I also believe that dinos were placed on the Ark.
