How Short Should A Short Story Be?

I really need to know. Like how many wattpad pages? I need to know the maximum amount of pages. Thank you

@Fanta_xx A short story can be as short as you want it to be. It could be one page or at least six pages.

@Fanta_xx - on Wattpad anything under 30 wattpad pages is classed as a short story, however outside Wattpad a short story can be any length you like.

The definition of a short story (or any form of prose) is never based on the number of pages; it is based on the word count. This is because of differing sizes, formats, etc., but a short story is longer than flash fiction but shorter than a novelette. This would be 1,000-7,500 words.

Micro-Fiction: <50 words

Flash Fiction: 50-1,000 words

Short Story: 1,000-7,500 words

Novelette: 7,500-17,500 words

Novel: >40,000 words

Personally, all of my short stories average to about 2,000 words each. On Wattpad, that's about 3 pages.
