ADVICE FOR ALL NEW WATTPADERS

@julieclark When you start writing, there is simple rules to follow. The "self-explanatory" rule is just no stealing work, or attacking other works/users. Make sure your work is under the correct copyright and do not spam users into reading your story. The biggest no-no is vote trading and of course writing anything pornographical or illegal material. quic question, i have put up a story and i was wondering how you get it to say how many parts (chapters) there are. i have 2 parts to it so far but it doesnt say it has any parts :/

@AsharaPorter Hi! If your story has chapters then you start with a new story, copy-paste or type your story in the story area and then save. When you save your story, the parts of that chapter will be automatically set depending on the length of your chapter. I do not know the technicalities of how many words or characters fit a part but usually assuming its a few pages of a word doc, A4 size, then you'd have close to that many parts. You cannot choose how many parts a chapter will have, that is automatically updated. However you can modify the paragraphs and space between paragraphs in a separate window and save to adjust the parts. Then to add another chapter, you go to upload, to your story and choose new chapter and then add your chapter title and continue.

I had messed up when I published my story and that's how I figured this out.

@TibbyGirl Hi! To upload a story, scroll up and find "Hi TibbyGirl" scroll your cursor over and click "My Works." Then on the right side you should see "New Story." Click it and add a story title and start writing then save it if you want to go back to add more details or save AND publish to post here on Wattpad! It doesn't matter how frequently you upload a chapter to your story! It's whenever you want to! There is no deadline or requirement or anything. Whenever you feel to write a new chapter just go to "My works" look at your story and it should say "Add New Chapter." As for changing profile picture go back to "Hi Tibby Girl" and click "My Profile." Then on the top click "Edit profile" and on the right hand side it should say "Change Profile Picture" then upload any picture from your computer! Hope this helps!

@hairlikestarlight If you're talking about becoming an editor for someone, it's usually just having the original author send her draft through email and then you (as the editor) edit the draft and send it back to the author via email.

@TheOtherBella Sure! If the concept is same, then it's all your original work but if you use the show title and some actual events/people from the show in your story make sure that you categorize it under Fan-Fiction.

Excuse me if this questioned has been answered already, but I was wondering if taking 'a piece' from another story and twisting it around and making it your own would count as fan fiction...I'm not really planning on doing that, but I'm just asking to be on the safe side =P And thank you! This helped alot, I had no idea you can ente contests here lol =D

@TheRebelWearsPrada Let's say that you took the idea of Harry Potter and you are making up a different version/story of it and a totally different plot yet you still use Harry Potter, Hermoine, and all the main characters in Harry Potter. That would be Fan fiction. If you just took the idea of a boy who found out he was a witch and goes to a witch school but you instead write about a girl who found out she was a vampire and goes to a vampire school, that would be just your own original work and you don't categorize that as fan fiction. @SilverDragonCo Go to your profile and on the top of your profile near the right side it should say 'Edit.' Click it and on the right hand side it should say Profile Picture - Change or Remove. Click Change and select a picture from your computer and save.
