Which book or books that have been published recently (say the past ten years or so) do you think will become classics someday? |

Easy. The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. It's an amazing historical/romantic/horror/thriller/mystery/paranormal coming of age novel that's worth a read from anyone :) |

Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke. It's over 800 pages long, but I swear to God it is the best thing I have ever read. It takes place in the early 1800s, and it's written in period style. The effect is just incredible. |

The Harry Potter books, definitely. They had better live on, since I've already decided that I'm going to make my future kids read them. |

Yeah, I agree with everyone else; I think Harry Potter is definitely going to be a literary classic. The plot itself is just incredible. :) |

Harry Potter is the thing that will stay a classic. I don't care, but it's such an amazing book. |

@ilovharrypotter @AnonomiaUnknown... @RaeF1994 @PandoraFireflie... Yeah i think we all have to agree the Harry Potter will win. Definitely going to be a classic. @xBurningGracex And I agree. The whole plot is based loosely on J.K Rowling's life. |

I think Harry Potter and Twilight, as much as I hate it. That was the book that started the craze for vampires that wont be over for another good 3-4 years. Vampires have been globalized by that book. Sadly, when people say, "Where'd you get that story idea?" "Oh, Twilight." Grr. Stupid unoriginal writers. D: |

Please, please, please, stop saying Harry Potter. I am not saying that they are bad books and I am not saying that they are overrated.... it is just that they are other books that deserve notarity. I think "I Serve: A Novel of the Black Prince" should go down. It is not the best I have read but is better than other so called "classics". It is so compacted with facts and so brilliantly written and truthful that it just grips you even though the writing has a dry flavor. That is just my little rant... sorry:) Peace! |

I agree with earlier posts The Shadow of the Wind is mind blowing. If you haven't read it I would thoroughly recommend you stop what you're doing and find yourself a copy of this book! But I also have to agree Harry Potter is going to be around for a long time to come. Most people have at least seen the films and the vast majority of people have read the books, I can't name a book in my lifetime that has reached such fame. |

@Stella101 Nah Twilight has an expiry date. It only has one specific audience - very young teenage girls. Whereas books like Harry Potter have a MASSIVE audience encompassing both genders and furthermore the books grow up with the reader so it hits the young teenage audience and an older audience. They even released books with a more bland front cover so adults could read HP without feeling silly. Twilight is just a phase, Harry Potter is for life. |

The Game of Thrones Series by George R. Martin. It has already been compared to J.R.Tolkein and The Once and Future King. |
