Okay, so I have started to write about zombies, and I want to know - how many types of zombies are there? What are your favourite zombie types?

    Fire away! (:

@eviethebookworm How do you mean exactly? How they were created?

@TheLocalGuerilla Well, you know how some zombies are all torn up and groan? Then there are some that are not so wasted, and are more on the breathy-voice side. That's kind of what I mean. Actually, what I mean is what are characterisitics of your favourite type of zombies. The zombies - 'creepers' - that are in my story have these characteristics: They hiss (description of this is in my story, part one), and they have turquoise eyes (again, explained in my story). Also, they walk as though they are either drunk or drugged. Yeah. Was that helpful? (:

@eviethebookworm - I suppose you can have several types dependant on how they were created like TheLocalGuerilla suggested. If they're 'created' by some sort of injection or lobotomy or even magical incantation that would be a couple of variants. The more traditional style such as Max Brooks' zombies are zombified by passing on of the zombie virus usually by a bite. I guess you could also have some sort of zombifier weapon if we're going a more SF route. Zombies tend to be considered horror on Wattpad though...

@TheOrangutan Are they really considered horror? Hmm, I'll take what you have said on board. Cheers (:

@eviethebookworm - it depends on how they're formed to some extent. But traditionally the zombie is a shambling moaning thing devoid of emotion and implacable, existing only to feed and drag others into the same condition. Sounds like horror to me, although there are certainly cross-over points with both SF and fantasy.

@eviethebookworm It depends. If you got a story that has fundaments on Sci-Fi, it's Sci-Fi. Exactly the same goes for Horror. Zombies are just a part of your story.

@eviethebookworm 28 days later zombies. loud wild crazy and not too big a stretch scientifically as the virus is something like rabies. i think zombies are always scarier if they can run because it makes surviving ten times harder.

@the_outlander Hmm, what would be scarier though: Zombies that run, or zombies that communicate with each other? Zombies that have some level of communication would be worrying as hell. Just think - you hide behind a wall and BOOM, the zombie you expected to be hanging out where you left it has somehow got itself in position to have you as piggy in the middle. And if they could do both... Oh, goodness. :s

As for the zombies in 28 Days Later (I really ought to watch that), your description of them remind me of Quarrantine. In that film, the residents of the comtaminated apparent building get this virus that is a sped up version of rabies. Uber freaky stuff when seen at three in the morning, I'm telling you.

@eviethebookworm yea Quarantine is awesome! They are making a sequel i can't wait to see it! But once they get too smart humans have no chance. I think it is more believable if they are easily tricked or can be dealt with if you survive long enough to know what attracts them. Characters that are survivors and adaptable are always the most interesting to me.

@the_outlander The sequel has gone straight to DVD. It's when they are on an airplane, right? Then they get stuck in lockdown at the airport.

I agree that the most interesting characters are those that adapt and have common sense. It's so boring when a character does the common stupid thing that you know what the results will be.

@DanDeBono What made the movie '28 Days Later' a crap movie?

Haha, the most obvious zombie. Yes, you can't beat the classic.

I love the classic zombies, though depending on your story, that might not work. I once wrote about the kind that were so obviously zombies, but traveled like dogs, in packs and such, relying on their sense of smell. They also could move pretty quickly, when they wanted to, or at least some kinds.

I didn't want them to be SUPER easy to kill.

@eviethebookworm Personally, I like both flavors of zombies, like the classic Romero ones and the faster ones in 28 Days Later/I Am Legend. Maybe you could have the virus have different effects on different people.

In this story I've been writing for NaNoWriMo, they are a bit more human. There are living and dead ones. Basically, the living ones are a bit less savage, but at the same time, they are slightly smarter and faster and use traps. They also hallucinate that humans are monsters out to kill them. The dead ones, on the other hand, just shamble mindlessly toward anything that moves and are even more effective. Basically, they are threatining in their own ways, and the virus causes physical deformities on them.

Read the Zombie Survival Guide if you need more info on zombie types and human to zombie combat :D

Some types that I can think of:

The hungry zombies ~ flesh eating zombies!

Smart zombies ~ those that used firearms and harvest humans as slaves.

Dumb zombies ~ those that dont know how to walk up stairs.

Slow zombies ~ they are slow... best when you want to toss pies at!

Fast zombies ~ these zombies are fast, they run, jump, and spring!

Zombies that talk ~ yes, I've seen a few movies with talking zombies.

Zombies that eat only brains ~ yes, I've seen a few of those too...

Zombies that are voodoo slaves ~ very rare to see today but most of the zombie horror stories before 'Night of the living dead' were from voodoo...

    :)

@eviethebookworm simple, the ones that don't really die till you've extinguished them completely with something pure like fire or some other paranormal remedy, Salt, Silver. It will enhance the story line, especially when the character runs out/ loses the zombie killing thing in an intense situation.
