Questions about the Watty Awards. Ask your own and answer others :)

Okay so this is the first time I'm entering the Watty awards. I get the general jist of it. You need to finish a book by late October and compared to the votes and ranking you'll be put through to the second round etc. Anyway...

Im curious to know. Does the amount of fans you have effect what award you are nominated for in the Watty awards? For example, in my personal opinion my story would be in the undiscovered as its not super popular but I get about 20 votes per chapter. Which is a decent (compared to others in the watty awards)/ really good (personal opinion) amount. However, people fan me for no reason. The stupid fanning wars of 2012 or because the person is bored. Profiles are the obvious reason I assume this. Some people bluntly say: I fan people on this account because I'm bored.

I feel like this could put me at a disadvantage because I have a high number of fans, yet barely any of them read any of my works. I'm considering deleting my account and starting afresh with this story. But then again I'd probably be found by some more people doing the same thing, who don't read anything.

Any help would be really useful and thank you for reading that whole rant XD

Do you know if we can submit stories that are already completed? Or do we have to enter a story that we're currently working on?

@XxArixX For the Watty Awards 2012 the story would have had to been on Wattpad after November the 1st 2011. But whether it’s completed or not now does not matter. So if it’s complete you can still submit it. Until the deadline date of October 31st. Then, it needs to be finished, otherwise it’s disqualified.

Do have any idea when next year's Watty awards are? I'M assuming it'll start this November like the 2012 wattys started last november... im thinking about preparing a story...

I believe as long as you have one account together, You may enter it there, or whoever has it on their profile may enter it. I believe.... don't quote me on it though. @NerdsGeekDorkyFreaks

I'm not quite sure. I have some of the same problem. I don't think deleting your account will fix the problem, though. The same thing might happen.

This is what the wattpad says: "The levels are determined by: 1) support from fans and other readers 2) the popularity of the story in comparison to other entries 3) the consistency of activity throughout the entire story"

So I don't think it matters if your readers are your 'fans' or not. I think it just means the people who read your story. @MeepyM

@Thingstosay Good luck! I'm entering Historical Fiction because it's my favourite genre, my story has a little Romance in it but the amount of research made it more historical.

@Coolcat24 If it is less than 160 characters (word/ letter wise) it would be in the short story category. Wattpad can change it if you put it in mystery and its below 30 Wattpad pages. If the title has nothing to do with the word count then what's the synopsis?

Here is the synopsis:

If someone you didn't know tweeted you that, what would you do? A mystery tweeter tweets Hassani but it doesn't stop there. He starts following her on other networks and is somehow connected to her leading crush in school. Find out Hassani's journey to find the mystery tweeter and maybe, just maybe, fall for him.

Question: My story right on is 20 pages long. It says that if the story is less than 30 pages, I must enter it as a short story. But, in the end, my story is going to be more than 30 pages. Do I mark it as a Short Story, then change it?

@Starlighter1996 I don't think so. You just mark the genre you want it to be (romance, horror and etc.)

@YurAMistake Each story is entitled to one special award, they're like bonus awards on top of the category awards, a special award is like 'Best Female Character' or 'Most Shocking Cliffhanger' or ' Best Cast-list' Hope that helped :)
