I would love to know how people feel about this book. My friend and I have been reading it and wanted some where to discuss the book. So any thoughts ? oh and a movie is going to be made...so who should play Grey?

@Blush18 So i have not read this, My mother has and she says its great. She has told me about all three books and after hearing her description of the book I think Ian Somerhalder would be great.

My sister comes at me a while back, gushing about this book she's been reading and how it's going to be a major hit. Interested, I asked what was it called and all the norm and I end up with Fifty Shades of Gray. I only had to read the blurb inside the book store to put it back on the shelf and walk away. It's romance, and I don't read romance. A while passes and suddenly it's everywhere, Fifty Shades of Gray is all over the place and once again, my sister asks if I've read it. Succumbing to curiosity as well as the insistent nagging of my sibling, I borrowed the first book from her. A couple of chapters in and I knew the book was going to be bull. After finishing the book, I can tell you it is a load of bull. I probably wouldn't have read the entire series, but you see, when arguing with my sister, you have to come fully loaded. So I read it, albeit a lot of skimming, I finished the series and can tell you I suffered in more that one place in the book. The writing was poor, the characters lame and the story plot...pathetic. It was right out porn and there is no other way to look at it. I don't get why people are so into it.

@AmyleeMichaels I think he's perfect for the role! He's hot, and intimidating. @ZQGunner I agree that the story was poorly written, it was supposed to be a twilight fanfic so the main character resembled Bella which annoyed me. I did like the erotica although it was a bit new to me. The plot was good but again the writing ruined it for me... LOL and yes! It's like reading porn smh. I wonder how they're going to make the movie?

@Blush18 I was suckered into reading the book by MyMan's very insistent sister. So after reading the first book and not even finishing the second. I can tell you this. Honestly Fifty Shades is girl porn. Girl porn that gives women ideas on how to spice up their intimate life. Storyline wise it's pretty crappy. Into some kinky stuff between the sheets? Then, it's basically a book that you would want to read to get your creative juices flowing. Double entendre intended. =p The MC was supposed to be a lot like Twilight's Bella. The story had originally started as an OC Twilight fanfic. How are they going to make a movie of it? Take it to another country where they have not as strict screen standards and film it? Or just make it and sell it as porn? *Shrug* Not really sure. And not a book that I would honestly spend money on.

@DoniMcClure Yeah. I didn't buy it I borrowed it from my friend. I think once the movie comes out there's going to be so many controversies and there will be more hype. I read some where that they will be a makeup kit based on the book. People are finding ways to make money off of this.

@Blush18 Good lord, a make-up kit? I honestly...*shakes head* I don't that's just insane. I think you're right with saying that people are trying to make money off the series.

@Blush18 Yeah, and woman complain about the cheap shitty porn men watch. I'm not watching the movie. You'd have to kill me first. I read several Stephen King novels after that, needed to get that out of my system. *shudder* Even the memory curdles my blood.

@ZQGunner I'm going to be honest; I will probably secretly watch the movie. I'm too curious as how they are going to put it all together. Most of the girls will watch it just so they know how the movie ends up...

@ZQGunner I know just what you mean. I liked Twilight; I'm not going to lie I loved it but I read it before it went main stream and Edward Cullen became Robert Pattison and Bella Swan became Kristen Stewart. Stephanie Meyers isn't bad I loved her book The Host; it was amazing but then when I read old school vampire novels I just found Twilight so out of balance. I never liked Vampire and Werewolves stories. But after Twilight I gave it a chance and got hooked on Vampire Diaries it's pretty interesting and it isn't filled with cuddly cute vampires lol

@Blush18 I think every person has their own preference in books and movies. Romance, for me, should stick in fairytales by the fire from when I was a boy and it was my nan's droll about ferries and the magic’s of Ireland or Scotland. My parents believed in romance and boy was that different from the books. Twilight was not a book I loved, more or less for what was represented inside the book. I would not, for a day, let my daughter read it. The morals, the beliefs and the realism is so out of touch. Vampires are good enough, I suppose. Her writing is alright, but the story gets at me. The Host was good, I liked the values represented.

I'm so glad to come on here and see people who disliked Fifty Shades of Grey, I honestly thought that I would have no faith/hope in the reading public whatsoever. It's a bunch of bull, and as are most mainstream books these days, it's poorly written, lacks a concise and realistic plot and is bought by people who are brainwashed to believe that by reading it they'll learn something new/gain some brain cells. I wish more people read the classics, yeah sure, Jane Austen can get a little bit boring but there's so much more out there. From Hemingway, to Plath, to Woolf...nobody reads good literature anymore. At least, no one I know.

I actually like the book and the trilogy. I think it holds a difference sort of appeal to most books but it is complex in it's many plots and twists. I found it exciting and interesting. I don't think that they will make a movie out of it, but if they do I would like to watch it and see how they put it together.

I read the first two books and it's interesting, unrealistic but interesting. I can't say enough how the writing ruined it for me. It could have been prosecuted so much better but anyways there's been a lot of talk about a movie and I do plan on watching it and seeing how it turns out. @karnipa it has been a really long time since I've come across great books. So I just usually dive into Rumi and Tagore. Their work is so beautiful. You should try reading Manto as well, he usually wrote short stories but he's really good.

well, i think it's kinda good story, of course if you ignored all the erotic parts in it, and all the other obvious flaws.. the storyline itself is quite good!

@Blush18 hehehe i didn't say that i haven't enjoyed it, i don't really mind it, but the thing is that everyone say that it's pure p*rn and that things.. so i meant that even if we deleted all those parts, the story-line will still be great :D

Lol the movie IS porn! I haven't read it and I don't think i want to after what I'm seeing from you. I think it's quite funny that a person wrote a series of porn. HAHAHA

I think the frustrating thing for me is that there's lots of better written Twilight erotica out there—LOL!—but I did really enjoy certain aspects of it. I guess I just wish that some of the better fanfic authors had gotten mega-deals, you know?

    DON'T DO IT TO YOURSELF!

    Just don't

Fifty Shades of Sh*t was the worst book I've ever read in my entire life

    WHY?

    -Sh*t writing

-The main character is an idiot (I have never called any character of any book I've ever read and Idiot BUT Anna is definetely an idiot) I've never wanted to slap an imaginary character THIS much in my life #-_-

    - The Dumbsh*t Anna won't shut up about her friggin "INNER GODDESS"

    - Chris is really a serial killer in disguise. He's completely F*cked up and not in a good way either.

    - The sex scenes are quick and overated. Not sexy at all. The author tries too hard to make it sound kinky when it barely passes amateur.

    - The Plot......what plot? There was no friggin plot.

    - There is pedophilia involved (I HVE DIRECT QUOTES IF YOU THINK I'M KIDDING) It's dsgusting. I'm talking about a 2 year old here. How sick is that?

In conclusion, I have burned my copy of FSOG. If you do ever get it I suggest you do the same.

    So. Bad. So bad.

But you can't really be surprised. /Anything/ that popular isn't written well, lately anyway.

50 Shades? Bad. Twilight. Bad. Hunger games? It actually had a decent plot, but the writing was lousy. So bad.

The general public doesn't want to put out any effort, so they pick up these books written like the author didn't even TRY to make them intelligent, and then they have an easy peasy book to read that just spoon feeds them everything.

That's not a novel. It's barely even writing.

@lovehymn I see what you mean I mean it would have been a great plot I'm just not a fan of the writing. Otherwise I think it was interesting. @XxAriettaRosexX it'sbeen too long since I read really really good fiction ... @AlexaFragile again it had so much potential but it failed in the end... The characters could have been more well rounded, I didn't feel sympathy towards them or hate towards the one I was supposed to.

I definitely do not read these disgusting books. I've read the blurb and that's about it. My mum's addicted to this, shes read all the series. I asked her about the porn situation thing, and she said she can read past that. So... I've never read this book, so I don't really know anyhing other than the characters, blurb, and my mum describing it. The other annoying thing is, that shes THAT addicted to it, she's put some of the books on my Kindle and I never get it now. A movie? Seriously? I'd never see my mum! Plus; There would be a high rating for it...
