I'm trying to write a fantasy short story but I keep going blank when I try to think of what to name my characters and cities. I would really appreciate some help. I'm looking for names like the ones used in Game Of Thrones and other books like that.

@ThatIrishGirl Umm I have never read the Game of Thrones but I'll give you a list of names I just came up with: -Thesbiana -Octavia -Aclina -Nyasuma -Neferu -Namere I can make up some more if those don't work. Let me know if it helps :)

For cities I just look up an adjective like 'pretty' and then find a strange synonym like 'mesmeric' or 'comely' because they sound like they could be abstract names. Hope this helps and you get passed your writer's block.

@ThatIrishGirl I've never read The Game of Thrones, but I can help you with names. What I do is I pick a language - any type of language, Swedish, German, Irish - and I translate a word. Say you want a name for a character who's a shapeshifter. In Latin, "umbra" is shadow, and "derivare" is shift. Combining the two is more of a trial and error thing. You have to see what you like. Univare. Vimbra. Or you could just start completely over. That's what I do - and you could even combine two different words from two different languages. Once you start on it, it gets really fun. Any more question, just message me, kay? Grapes xx
