I'm re-reading this for the first time in many years. It is definitely brilliant stuff. You can see how it influenced John Campbell's "Who Goes There?" which spawned all three films versions of "The Thing". "Alien" & "Prometheus" are veritable cribs of ATMOM. Any fans around here? Apart from HPL's love of dimestore "big words" the prose is incredibly clean & modern, very past paced, with great descriptions, especially of the various creatures. |

@VincentAsaro - one of the other users on here recommended me that one about 6 months ago and it was absolutely superb. The tension oozes from the page and the slow creeping horror of the past just grabs you. Absolutely superb. |

Yeah, I went through a HPL-barren period myself. But a close friend is re-reading it all & he got me sufficiently excited to go back to it. He really stands up! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8PIeFN05rI (A great documentary on Lovecraft.) |
