Summary: The Keymaster has a heart made of brass, a heart that ticks. His brain is made of gears. Yet that is not what makes him inhuman. He is a soul-stealer, a soul bounder. He takes a single brass key, and thrusts it into the heart of a human. The human becomes his slave, for as long as the Keymaster winds up their heart, they live. A sheltered princess is attacked by one of the Keymaster’s windup slaves. Entranced by her once his eyes fall upon her, he stops in mid-action. The wind-up assassin disobey’s the Keymaster’s orders to thrust the key specially made for her into her chest. As the key in his chest turns, his is time is running out. The princess, who falls in love with him back, vows help him find a way to release him from the Keymaster’s curse...

Ending: The Keymaster's Slave kills the Keymaster by taking the key out of his head (which he hides with his tophat). But then he dies because as long as the Keymaster lives, he lives. The princess takes the Keymaster’s key, and plunges it into her heart. She becomes the Keymaster. She winds up his heart, and he lives. As long as she loves him, the key will turn.

    Good ending? Any alternate ideas?

@GoldLipstick Basicallty, it's a fairy story, which uses logic and magic which is not possible. So the whole thing will hang on how well you tell it. how attractive you can make the characters and how well you build your world.

i like it. i find in interesting because it isnt a story i have heard about. (idea in general). ive read like half a book about this toymaker who cuts out crows heart and places them in his toys (which was really boring), but the idea you came up with is quiet interesting. cant wait until you start writing.:)
