Need some paranormal ideas

I really love to write paranormal but I have trouble coming up with something that involves it. So for what I have right now is below.

Alisia is an eighteen year old girl diagnosed with an autistic disorder. She is anti-social and has very little friends but is more of an outcast to all those around her. She is extremely attached to the other world which happens to be the paranormal world but her family believes she has gone crazy and thinking something is very wrong with her because of what she sees. Her parents think that she is in some fantasy world and blame it all on her autism when really she does have every ability to see and hear spirits and also hold empath abilities that she is struggling to control.

I was thinking that her parents think she is crazy and send her off to a mental institute for seeing things that aren't there. A demon boy has to save her from the torture of possible being raped or sexually abused Only problem is, I'm not sure I want it to take place too far back in history. I know today that mental institutes are more helpful with patients and all that.

Does anyone want to offer ideas?

@AutisticAlice Well you could have it in modern day. I mean, sex scandals happen all the time. There could be that one or two loser guys that eye her, and then Mr. Demon comes.

@kimathy That actually sounds cute. Especially since Mr. Demon has the ability to reappear, disappear and be invisible... I mean duh... he IS a demon. XD
