Okey, I don't really know in which club this fits in, but it for an adventure story, so... Well, first of all: My main characters have been stealing some horses and they are planning to run away. But I've got a little problem. If I wrote "and they rode all day, until both horses and riders were about to collapse", how far away would they get? So my question is...: How far do you get on a horse, if you ride all day long (morning -> late evening). I would be really happy if anyone could help me fix this out :) |

it would depend on how fast they're going, figure out the mph they're going and calculate it! :) |

@wolftail It would depend on the horse, but typically a horse can go between 30-40 miles in a day. They can't gallop for more than a few miles, so I gess most the moring will be spent cantering and walking for the rest of the day (a trot would be too uncomfortable for the rider over a long distance). If the horses have to carry a heavy load (person+armor) or if the terrain is difficult to travel on they won't be able to go as far. |
