Hey :) Alright, so I'm writing a story set during WWII, taking place in Germany. It's a story between a jewish girl and her best friend/love interest who is the son of a Nazi General. I've been studying WWII in school, so I feel comfortable to be writing about it, but I'm not confident. It's definitely out of my comfort zone. So I was wondering if there were people out there that I could have to help me out? Either take a look at what I have written for accuracy, or that I could turn to with any questions regarding WWII? Thank you very much! (& by the way, the name of my story is 'Tomorrow Will Be Kinder' :) ) |

I pretty much know the history of 30s/40s Germany and the Holocaust inside out, I've read so much about it and I've done holocaust memorial presentations and stuff. Feel free to ask away any time :) |

Nazi Germany? That's my era. I annoy my friends with how obsessed I am with it. I know the history and all the organizations and Nazis themselves inside out. Ask me anything :) |

I love the title of your story, by the way.:D I've always been a WWII history buff, so I'll help if you need it, but it seems you have many willing people already.:) One thing that might help is to read some holocaust memoirs. To help with an American view on the war, I really enjoyed the memoir http://www.amazon.com/Eleanors-Story-American-Hitlers-Germany/dp/1561452963 Every library I've ever been to has it. (I've moved quite a bit.) You can look up a timeline of WWII online as well. That is very helpful. Good luck! |

Any Second World War help come to me. Big knowledge of it all, rather good at it if I say so myself. I will admit to you now that I'm not that great on the Home Front of any of the big powers but if you want to know effect of allied bombing of Germany and any other military details, please do give me a shout! |

@MineToKeepWarm Listen, you're probably going to set your love affair in the early 30's, during the rise up to the war itself. That's what I would do in any case. Set the relationship during the aftermath of the Nuremburg Laws, and have the story climax with the beginning of the war. In reality a relationship between a Jew and a Nazi during the war itself, especially between teenage characters, would have been next to impossible. For you to write it would be complicated, and require a knowledge of the everyday life of the people of the time that you have admitted to not possessing. Do more research on the history, and twist your plot and characters to fit the facts, not the facts to fit your plot. Pesonally, I would write on the relationship between to young adults ( about 18 years) in 1935. Write about the devastating effects the new laws have on the couple's relationship. Write about the moral battle the son o the Nazi would have had to undergo. Write about the new everyday challenges the Jewish girl would be faced with. Anyway these are just some things to think about. |

If you are writing a romance set in Germany during WWII then you should read all of the novels by Alan Furst. His stories have an espionage angle, and most involve Germany, but they always involve a romance as well. Start with Night Soldiers and go from there. |
