Scary stories & books?

Joined: 2012-02-23Posts: 821 year agoSo, I've notice that, even within the horror and paranormal categories, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of intentionally scary works. Now, I am new, so I may just be missing it as of yet, but it seems like there's a lot of paranormal romance, and Twilight brand horror. Can anyone recommend some good SCARY paranormal/horror stories, or authors?

Or maybe it's just me O_O Well, if you've read tons like I have then you barely get scared at all. Instead, you find them amusing. It's an anthology, and in my current one, The Hooded Man, a woman has weird and impossible things happen to her, and one day her life is turned upside down. And it's SO not cliche.

@Dramatism Perfect. I much prefer a good ghost, or paranormal story over a gorey bloodfest. It's all about atmosphere for me.
