How do I get my stories more popular?!?!?

Ok..so I have like 500 reads on one of my stories and only 8 comments...I am getting so frusturated because no one will tell me if I am doing good or how I can improve myself. Does anyone know any ways to get stories more popular?! Cuz I am about ready to stop writing if I am not going to get any feedback about how to be better.

@Emily8769 Read, commented, and voted. You never should give up writing if its something thats important to you.

If you're looking for people to read your stories, you should try reading other peoples work, commenting, and voting if you like what you've read. Most people will return the favor (at some point). Also plugging your story here in the clubs section is a good way to get reads. You can always plug your story on members message boards, but its not always a good idea because a lot of people frown upon that, and you may even turn people away people from reading your work.

The idea is to target other writers like you (who write the same things you write about). In your case it would be Romance and Teen. Read some stories from those other authors, and give them an honest and thought felt comment (one that didn't take less than 30 seconds to type). You may want to do this with less popular writers who are also like you trying to get their work noticed (they're more likely to return the favor). Fanning those writers if you like their work helps, too.

@Emily8769 I have never asked anyone to read my stories (well other than my family to whom i shamelessly plug myself) How i got noticed is i would post every day. That way my story stayed on the top of the 'what's new' page. Also i made sure to post in times when i thought the most people would be online. So like around before or after dinner. And i ALWAYS posted frid/sat/sun. On days i could i would write as much as i could and then slowly post that, i usually posted 4 word pages per chapter/section of my story group. So if you are like me and have a hard time asking people to read your story, continue to put it in their face until they choose to read it! (I also joined a book club on wattpad www.wattpad.com/user/book_club that also helps get good reads and critiques) Hope that helps.

If you are not ashamed to post your story on Share Your Story Club, then do it! I always do it though :)

I actually want to let people READ and KNOW my story, not only vote for vote and stuffs. But you know? Sometimes they actually are amazing XD

And @MikeJPW is right, too. Ask people from the same genre as yours to read, fan them, and ask them to tell you what do you think of your story. You need to be active on SYS (many posts) that people will trust you to read their stories back. Read back them, don't lie. But at first maybe you can click the 'vote' button, so they'll be happy :)

The point of writing surely is make people read yours, don't do it for fame :) But actually it's important, aye?:D

And.... do reads for reads to newbies, they surely will be happy :) Nuff said, hope my suggestions would help! :)

I've been writing forever but I'm not sure if my friends are lying to me about my stories and poetry. they all say it's really good but only 2 people have read one of my stories so far :( I hope I'm not a bad writter.

I know exactly what you mean. It frustrates me how some people randomly have over a million views on stories which some are terrible! And then other stories are amazing and only have a few thousand. It's just the way it is I guess! Unless you get lucky haha. I can ready your story and give you feedback though. I'll do it soon=)

I think what everyone posted is like GREAT advice!! But if you still really want someone to give you some feedback why don't you try @WattiesUnited ? They read & review your stories for free

...hmm, lol when I put it that way it makes it seem weird, but all I mean is, they're a group of people on wattpad who'll read your work and let you know how you're doing...no catches.
