making fun of twilight

This does have a link to Twilight and I'm really trying to get this into my head, it doesn't seem to be working. So all these extremely popular books have extremely messed up leads. It's like it started with Edward being possessive and creepy, and it's spread- everywhere. Especially in the werewolf and vampire genres. I've basically given up for a select few, and stick to historicals and fantasy. But for some reason, it's the new craze to have a simmering, useless and defenseless female (Or make her "Independent" and at the same time cling onto every boys arm once danger arrives) and an abusive male. And everyone's (Yes this is generalisation but a huge proportion) in love with it. I get if the guy eventually is remorseful or she is against it, but they are not! Can anyone explain it to me? Because I don't get it.

10. Pedophilia is okay because Jacob is allowed to be madly in love with their daughter. The whole impinting on infants thing freaked me out. Why couldn't jacob just move on or get with Leah? There are ALOT better and more emotionally stable girls in the world that aren't newborn babies or Bella Swan.

@MeepyM To be honest, I don't really know. I don't read a lot of stuff on here. I'm really picky. I have noticed a lot of vampire kidnap/slave stories where the girl is already attracted to the guy by chapter three though... annoys the CRAP out of me. The guy kidnaps her and scares the crap out of her and all she does is argue with herself about how hot he is/isn't and how she does/doesn't like him. The girls are also pretty weak.

I 'm all for kidnap/slave stories since I'm writing a few, but man, can't the girls be a little more strong!? I know the guy is a vampire and can kill them really quickly if he wanted to, but they could at least try to be a little strong and not talk about how hot/not hot he is every other page.

I would just say simply that it's just because of Twilight that these kinds of stories are popping up now (not all of them though, just some). So many girls like it and think it's romantic, so of course, they want to write something similar.

@ess1223 I forgot about that one! Jacob imprinting on their child was just gross, in my opinion. The fans defense of this... really make my mad though. It's okay that he does it because his relationship to her at first would be like an older brother... that logic is stupid because their relationship is not going to always be brother/sister and it actually makes it more disgusting when you think about it because their relationship is going to start out like a brother/sister one, but then turn into a romantic one, once she's old enough.

I think Meyer wanted to put him with her, so Jacob could still be around Bella... if she had put him with Leah, he wouldn't have an excuse to see Bella and Edward wouldn't allow it (since Edward doesn't like or trust Jacob, he would have refused to let Bella see him and Bella would have listened because she's just THAT pathetic). Oh, and it was also a convenient way to end of the whole "war" between the werewolves and the vampires. A complete cop-out if you ask me.

@sarabeth120 It totally is! The whole concept freaks me out and I felt like a pervert for reading it. Honestly, he should've been happy to get out of Bella's life. She just used him during their entire relationship, and enjoys stringing him along. I would have definitely preferred him moving on with his life and onto someone much better for him. Also, if I saw a teenage boy playing with a baby or small child all the time and considered them to be his best friend (and they were in no way related) I would probably call the police.
