@JohnHStyles saying that power is corrupting is a simple answer, how many powerful presidents and prime ministers have there been who didnt become dictators. the answer to my question is to vast for a single person to answer completely,so let me add my two bits of sense as we search for an answer. institutional failure, weak democracy, weak economy, corruption, all these factors add to creating an environment for dictatorship to rise |

I think people believe these things because they want to believe, because they have nearly no choice but to believe in something other than their own fragility. |

what you see looking out your window is not the whole world. some people speak ill of religion, speak from a pedistal without even understanding what religion has done for society, what religion continues to do,and what religion has contributed to civilization all religion not just judea-christian.regardless of wether you belive or dont belive to ignore religions contribution to mankind would be to expose your ignorance,if you have nothing good to say remain neutral, and say nothing. |

isn't it in mankinds nature to talk? Yes in a perfect world no one would voice their opinions, and there fore there would be no wars/fights ect... but mankind is far from perfect therefore the chances of some poor idiot standing up and saying "*insert religion of choice in here* is stupid and idiotic" is about 99,9999999% @tshegofatso_seboni |

@tshegofatso_seboni ",if you have nothing good to say remain neutral, and say nothing." This is tricky because what is good is judged by the receiver(s). If the receiver is ignorant, enlightened people should shut up... I think people should always be allowed to say whatever the fuck they want to say. Even if it is ignorant bullshit. But other people have a choice in listening or not. |

@CreativeOneForLife @drDevil true true, but the topic of this thread isnt theological according to my understanding of it,if it was i would encourage people to say all that they have to say,but since the topic isnt theological,i dont understand why people reffer to religious arguments, that will just cause strife in the thread and not provide us with logicaly deduced answers. im pro discussing and arguing,if our arguments are going forward towards an answer, not arguments that go around in circles, and achive nothing, which is why i get bored when people argue religion vs science and the such. |

@CreativeOneForLife its not even about winners or losers, its about exchanging and challenging each others ideas and in the end coming up with logical conclusions and answers |

ok i am a little lost on how this conversation launches through each of the varying concepts of the human equation of process through beliefs or understandings that leads me to become confused between if you are all now speaking of the human element towards why we fight or towards what we fight for which can be either two separate things entirely or can be the same thing depended on what questions you ask and who's opinions you listen to... |

@destroirjam I think the original question was why people feel the need to impose their ways of thinking on others. Not only by fighting but also by power play. Why not just let other people be? I think this is because this is the result of in/out group processes and fear to lose living standards (houses/food/freedom/riches), but other explanations have also been offered. @tshegofatso_seboni @MsRight @CreativeOneForLife @EmissaryOfArceus @JohnHStyles |

@tshegofatso_seboni Really?! Everyone seems to be on the hospital nowadays. A hot nurse, you say? I highly doubt that. @drDevil Actually I'm the opposite. I don't enjoy seeing people copy my way of living, not like my way of living is awesome or anything, but still, it annoys me. They should come up with their own "thang" instead of copying my lazy ways. Of course, I'm sure that what I just said has absolutely nothing in common of what out topic is (I tried to make it as close as possible as I can) but I just wanted to voice that out. |

@JohnS_2 Wow, this must be the first time I see a thread opened by you. I think believing in a sort of unquestionable belief might rest the minds of some people. Religion or not, I think the thought of some sort of higher presence is something relieving. Try remembering when you were a kid and afraid of the dark, your mom's presence would easily scoop all that fear away. I think that's why most people choose to believe in something |
