I only recently became a fan, completely by accident by watching one of the movies and now I'm hooked, I'm currently reading "A Study in Scarlet". Sherlock Holmes is practically all I think about now.

I love the Sherlock Holmes stories! I was so lucky the other day because the bookstore had an over four hundred page book with most of the stories in it, and it was the second last one there!

    *Gasp* Watson is NOT dumb!!

My favorites include...The Mazarin Stone, Dying Detective (No, it's not because Holmes 'Almost Dies'), Red Headed League, A Study in Scarlet, Three Garridebs, and LOTS more.

Just started reading the original classics. When the Robert Downey movies came out, I started to watch the older ones with Basil Rathbone. Love it. On adventure 5 now.

To be honest... Sherlock Holmes and John Watson were my only and best friends for a very long time. I had just moved and was feeling lonely and unable to connect with new people... (dang it, OK? I was nine....). To this day, I find myself asking him or Dr. Watson for advice...

My favorite story would have to be "The Dying Detective". Don't know why... My second favorite would be the one where Sherlock Holmes come back - always brings a smile to my face!!

I am an obsessive fan of Sherlockian stories... =) Really, I was glad to see this thread.

Well, I like Holmes, not only because of his genius, but also because I can identify with him. He's quite the man: astute, observant, imaginative, artistic. As to Dr. Watson... well, I was impressed with his being such a loyal companion and confidant, and I've always thought that he's the ideal 'best' friend. =) My favorite of the tales? The Valley of Fear, The Hound of the Baskervilles, The Mazarin Stone, the Dying Detective, the Empty House, Charles Augustus Milverton, and the Speckled Band. They're brilliantly worked out!

I started reading them directly after I heard about the BBC version and I love them ALL. And I'm sure John's not dumb. He's too foppishly adorable to be a COMPLETE idiot ;) My favourite would have to be a tie between The Speckled Band and The Hound of the Baskervilles.

I love Sherlock Holmes! I think Watson is the perfect partner for Holmes and a doting friend. I don't think he's dumb though, he offers his own theories on cases, which are not always right, but I think Holmes thrives on this. Holmes too, he's a genius and intellectual man, though not without his demons. My favourite interpretation of Holmes has to be by the late Jeremy Brett from the ITV series. My favourite stories are: The Copper Beeches, The Speckled Band, The Hound Of The Baskervilles, The Musgrave Ritual and The Devil's Foot.

Doyle's shorts stories are what I most enjoyed. It was as if every story was better than the last, more gripping and intriguing. I can never predict Doyle, it's harder than anyone thinks. Going back to the point, Sherlock Holmes and Doyle are fantastic.

I love him, since the first time I read and knew him on Doyle's book. It's a birthday present and I just tried to complete the series of his story since that day. But, it's quite hard, since I lived in a small town in Indonesia. I love Study in Scarlet, as I got it from my friend, mm. His last bow, the game of death and I think I love them all. I've been in deep heart broken when I knew he almost die, but he come back so.. No more tears! Now, I'm reading another detective book which is written by Agatha Christie. Try to look on it, the stories are good.

I love The books, the movies, the BBC show, even Elementary (great new look at the character). :D I've recently went to the museum in London and now I'm even more interested in it. A.C. Doyle was a genius!!!
