Groaning under my breath, I sat on my suitcase, and pressed the top flap with the bottom flap tugging on the zipper around the suitcase. It wasn't like I had a lot of clothes- just books, junk, and some other unnecessary things I know I won't even touch when I get to Paris.
"Looks like you're leaving the house for good," I heard a smart remark. My head snapped up and saw my little sixteen year old sister leaning against the side of my door, crossing her arms.
"Like mom will ever let me," I smirked as I stood up pulling onto my jeans. I made a mental note to buy fitter jeans- apparently I lost five pounds from eating mom's "special" dietary pasta that she made for the past two weeks straight.
"So when you're leaving... I can bor-" she sang to the words of "borrowing."
"Hell no. You stay away from my closet. Besides aren't we different sizes?" I smiled as I walked into my bathroom that connected to my room and grabbed the usual toiletries - tooth brush, tooth paste, floss, sleep in retainers, reading glasses, tampons, pads, and my contact lenses case.
"I'm curvier but still same size. But I don't understand why! Kyle asked me to the movies and yo-" she whined as I walked out the bathroom and set out the items onto my bed.
"Asking you to go to the movies with your friends doesn't count as a date," I giggled as I pulled my suitcase to my side and dropped the toiletries into the second zipper pouch.
"But I want to look cute!" she demanded. I turned towards her and studied my dramatic little sister's face.
"Fine. But you better not mess with them, 'kay?" I smirked as I pulled my shirt over my head and walked towards my drawer with my blue lacy bra still intact.
"Hey did you grow a cup size bigger?!" she gasped. I turned around pulling a " 2010 Sen10rs" shirt over my head, and gaped my mouth open.
"Amber!"
"You're always a stick. You finally hit puberty! Good job!" She sarcastically clapped her hands. I rolled my eyes and pulled my hair into a quick bun. Hair was not my priority when it came to work.
"Shut up. Not my fault you have the curves. I wish I had your body," I sighed looking down at my thin body. I had curves but not as amazing as my little sisters.
"Not gonna' happen. Anyways, dinner's ready," she stated and walked out my room. I pulled up to my feet, and walked into the bathroom, changing into comfy shorts, and walked out the door, down the stairs.
I was instantly invited to the smell of pizza and right-off-the-oven garlic breads. The kitchen enveloped as my family members started to come into my vision- my preppy sixteen year old sister in pajama pants and a Pink tank top, my mom in her work clothes grabbing plates, my dad watching football on the TV, and my little nine year old brother, Stevie, playing with his pizza.
"Hey Syd. Sorry dinner is really late today. Grab a plate and pizza," my mom smiled as she grabbed a pizza and sat down at the dinner table. Lazy Sundays- the day my mom refuses to make food and we order food from outside- which I'm perfectly fine with considering I like pizza.
After grabbing a slice of pizza, I slipped into an empty seat next to Stevie.
"Sydney. I have placed all your tickets and information papers onto the counter plus $500. But you can't use all of it. Remember, you're staying they're just for a month," my mom smirked glancing at my shocked face at the sound of $500.
"Why can't I go with her?!" Amber whined.
"Because you don't have an internship like Sydney. Besides she was offered one. Maybe when you're eighteen, then perhaps," my mom responded.
"So all she gotta' do is just help out Aunt Liz's wedding dress company?" Amber sounded annoyed.
"Not just that. Remember, she's interning at the Paris Medical Center. She's just helping out Liz," Dad interfered.
It wasn't just helping out Aunt Liz, I was working for her unofficially. Ever since, her company hit the markets, everyone has been obsessed with her clothes and I'm not surprised. Her dresses are amazing. After finding out, I was offered an internship full paid scholarship (except for the traveling of course) Aunt Liz insisted I "take a look" at her wedding agency company. I agreed instantly, one because I love wedding dresses, two because I haven't seen her in a long time and it would hit two birds with just one stone if I live with my favorite aunt, helping her out, and pursue the internship.
