******************Soooo, this is a new story i've been working on- this is just the prologue thingy so it's not very interesting, but let me know what ya think of the idea. Thanks:)************************
“Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the hottest of them all?”
The girl in the mirror turned to stare at the older lady, before exclaiming, “Are you for real? You’re still asking that question?”
This had been going on for long enough in the mirror’s opinion - every week in fact for the last three years - and the answer never changed.
“Before you answer, remember I’ve started using this amazing new anti-wrinkle cream,” the middle aged lady named Geraldine explained to the mirror, holding the 70ml bottle up to the mirror as desperate proof that it must be working.
Her once beautiful looks had faded, her skin had become awash with premature wrinkles and her once unique features had taken on a deformed look as she had aged - now nearing 40 years old. Once a model in her youth, she had crashed and burned into the life of a bored housewife.
Geraldine was vein - looks meant everything to the shallow woman and anyone who had tried to steal her crown in the past had been dealt with - now all that was left was the step-daughter she despised so much.
“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; Madison’s the hottest girl in town,” the mirror sighed, waiting for the usual screaming match to start.
“I don’t get it,” Geraldine screamed, throwing the small bottle of cream at the wall opposite, it smashing and littering the bedroom floor with glass.
The mirror rolled her eyes, used to this reaction by now.
She didn’t understand why Geraldine still bothered to ask this question - it was pretty pathetic. Every time she asked it, she would end up going out and getting something new…botox, liposuction, nose job; but every time it was the same freaking answer.
Geraldine just couldn’t compete with Madison, it was like comparing a Great White Shark to a Seal.
“What the hell has that little parasite got that I don’t?” Geraldine continued shouting, pacing around her bedroom before finally sitting on her double bed facing the mirror and putting her head in her hands.
‘Great here comes the waterworks,’ the mirror thought, regretting the day she was ever bought by Geraldine.
The day Geraldine had first set eyes on the mirror, she had no idea what it actually was…how could she know it was that famous mirror out of the fairytale?
The mirror had tried to keep herself hidden for the last few hundred years, hoping she wouldn’t ever have to go through a repeat of Snow White - that girl had just spelt trouble.
Now though, she had a feeling she was gonna be repeating the whole sorry tale with this lot.
Since Snow White had got her so much bad publicity back then, the mirror had decided to keep a low profile - but the minute Geraldine had been alone in front of it the superficial words had just seemed to flow from her mouth.
“Am I the hottest girl out there?”
The mirror remembered the day like it was yesterday, the day she had to answer the question and reveal herself as the curse had intended years ago.
“Maybe now you look really nice, but it would help if your heart wasn’t made of ice.”
When Geraldine discovered what she had, she couldn’t contain her excitement as the mirror fed her ego year after year, until Madison that was.
Now this petty women was turning into the evil witch right before the mirror’s eyes, and the mirror couldn’t help but think this was going to reflect badly on her again…no pun intended.
“No. No I’m not standing for this,” Geraldine snarled, standing up and pacing the room again. “If you won’t do anything about this then I will.”
The threat was meant at the mirror, and she couldn’t help but think ‘what the hell do you want me to do, I’m cursed to tell the truth that’s all.’
The mirror had never wanted this, shit-stirring was hardly in the description, but this wasn’t exactly a job - more a curse from a very pissed of witch.
The girl trapped in the mirror watched as Geraldine pulled out her phone, anger written all over her ugly face as she punched a number in - and couldn’t help but think this was all going to end in tears.
It did last time, has no one heard the story?
Giving Geraldine one last glance, she disappeared behind a haze of green and blue smoke, leaving Geraldine alone in the room.
But Geraldine had a plan - one that would secure her position back on top. Madison was going down…step-daughter or not.
She held the phone to her ear, waiting as it rang once, then again and again - her impatience getting the better of her as she began pacing her bedroom once more.
“Hello,” the voice of her friend Naomi finally answered sounding tired.
“Naomi, I give in. I need the number for that hitman,” Geraldine whispered down the phone.
Yes it would be expensive, but Geraldine had a plan that would take Madison out of the equation for good!
