Chapter Five
When it was late out, Angie found that she couldn't sleep. It was dark, and the only sound outside, was the sound of the crickets. She held the covers close to her chin, but it didn't help anything. Plus Angie was hot, so she had to kick the blankets away. Then Angie felt lonely again.
She slid off the bed, and her socked feet touched the floor. She pulled on an old robe, and slid out of the room.
Angie used to do this when she was younger. She remembered all the tricks of sneaking out, because she had done it so many times with Jared.
Angie closed her door quietly, and pressed herself against the wall. That was the only way to walk down the hallway without the floors squeaking. Then she walked on the side opposite of the railing, so that no one would hear the creak of the railing when a hand was placed on in it.
Then she decided she would have to go out the front, because she didn't want to mess with the dog. So outside on the porch, Angie quickly ran across the porch. Then she was able to stroll around the house at the rate she wanted.
Angie stood on the beach, with her arms crossed over her chest. A dog barked loudly, and Angie spun around. In the large gate, stood Gina- the scary German Sheppard. "Hush," Angie order, but the dog continued to bark.
The dog didn't look nice at all. "Shut it," Angie growled, and the dog retreated into a small growl. Angie gave the dog a triumphant smile, and then turned back to the ocean.
She pulled off her socks, and felt the sand in her toes. Angie was only wearing polka dot shorts and a pink tang top with a robe over her shoulders. It was hot out, and Angie just wanted to pull the robe off, it was so hot.
The ocean waves crashed into the shore, and the tide started getting closer. Angie took in a deep breath, and breathed in the ocean. It was salty and fresh, something you would never find in the New York air. Angie always coughed in the smell of smoke and fumes. This was something different, and Angie wanted to enjoy it.
She dug her feet deeper into the sand, and let it slide off of her feet. The tide came closer, so she backed up. She backed up to much though, because now she was right next to the angry Gina.
Gina growled, and then grabbed on to Angie's robe. Out of fear, Angie pulled away, and the robe was pulled off her back. "Bad dog," She snapped, "Bad dog, give it back."
