Frank's POV

"So how's your first week been, Dan?" We were eating breakfast and he's barely even messed with

his food.

"It's been okay." He looked up and confusion crossed over his face. "What's going on with Jamie?"

I frowned and looked at the empty space that was left between Mikey and I; Gerard is sitting next to

Dan today. We're both a little uncertain about Dan and his condition still, but Jamie's taken a liking to him so I guess we shouldn't be too hesitant. Dan had a point though, and a question that I still haven't answered.

"Uh, sorry, I got caught up in my head."

"Which is a very dangerous thing." I glared at Gerard and he just smiled at me; Dan and Mikey were

unphased by the joke.

"But uh, I don't really known what's going on with her, I haven't seen her lately." I looked over at

Mikey, who has kept his eyes on his food this whole time. "Mikes, do you know anything?"

He looked over at me, "Don't call me that." Then he returned his gaze to his food.

"Mikey." Gerard warned him to behave just by saying his name and Mikey listened.

"She hasn't been talking again." Gerard and I froze; Dan sat there looking at all of us, not sure what

was going on.

"What does that mean?" Dan looked to each of us, wanting someone to explain.

"Uh…" Gerard spoke first, saving Mikey and I from having to tell the story. "When Jamie first came

here she was kind of quiet, but I got her to open up and be more lively like she was when you met her." Dan watched Gerard as he explained, not wanting to miss anything he said. "Then uh, there was a fire out back and she got caught in it."

"That's how she got the burns." I could tell Dan was making this statement more to himself than

saying it as a question, but Gerard answered anyway.

"Yeah, that's how she got them." He sighed and took a drink of coffee before he continued. "After the

fire, she stopped talking. She was the one who found the fire, so she was the one they wanted to question.

"She didn't do it," Gerard looked over at Dan and he nodded. "And she told them that and she also

told them she didn't know who did it, but they didn't believe her so they kept pestering her for the real answer. When she realized they weren't going to leave her alone, she stopped talking, and the nurses were forced to diagnose her as a selective mute due to a 'traumatic event'." Gerard put air quotes to show that he was referring to the fire. "She started talking again not too long ago, none of us are really sure what changed her mind though." Gerard looked over at me and he looked weary from telling the story.

"Wow..." Was all Dan could say.

"Yeah and now she's fucking shelled up again and we have no fucking idea why." Mikey stabbed his

fork into the pile of toast he and Gerard had been sharing. "All she did was hold my hand when I went in to talk to her, she wouldn't even roll over to look at me."

Dan looked at him slightly confused. "I thought she just wasn't talking?"

"We uh," Gerard spoke before Mikey could go on a rampage. "We don't know what's going on with
