Hey everyone! At the request of one of my followers on Wattpad (shoutout to @Arsenic_Apples ), I'm going to try and add some translations. Tony and his family often times slip Spanish here and there and unless you've taken Spanish in school, it can be a little difficult to understand the meaning.

It makes the text look a little weird but hopefully over time, you guys will get used to it.

Thanks again for reading and check back next week for another update. :)

Tony’s POV

I walk into the guidance counselors’ office and take a seat in the corner.

It’s the start of the second semester and there’s a good 50 people waiting around. Everyone wants a schedule change.

I’m holding the printout in my hand for Charleston Culinary Academy. If I can get into a culinary class this semester and finish the year with a 3.0 GPA, I can go to the academy next year while still attending St. Monica.

An old white lady walks out of the office with a clipboard and everyone sits up, waiting for their name to be called.

“Antonio Cortez,” she calls. Everyone puffs out disappointment and I just stand up with my backpack.

“Follow me Mr. Cortez.”

I follow her into the office. She sits behind a desk and I take a seat in a chair.

“What can I help you with?”

“Um.” I unfold the flyer I accidently crumpled. “I’m trying to get into this acadamy. Charleston? But I need to take a culinary class here before I can apply.”

She takes the paper from my hand. “Charleston?” I can tell she’s shocked. “You do realize that this is one of the top arts school in the country right?”

“Yeah,” I say. “My girlfriend found it for me.”

“Okay. Well first I’d like to say that I’m proud of you. Not many kids from East Side aspire to leave this area so kudos to you.”

“Thanks.” I don’t know what else to say.

“Now let’s find you a culinary class.” She starts typing to her computer. “We have five culinary classes. AP Foods, Desserts and More, Latin Dishes, Nutrition and Southern Food. With a school like Charleston, you’d probably look more competitive taking AP Foods. Do you have any cooking experience?”

“Yeah. Kinda.” I shrug. “My grandma taught me how to cook when I was younger. I cook almost everyday at home.”

“That’s wonderful Antonio!”

I blush a little as she types some stuff into her computer.

“Okay. We’re gonna have to pull you of 4th period literature because that’s the only time we offer AP Foods. That means you’ll have literature 1st block, replacing your current art elective. Does that work?”

“Um.” For some reason this lady makes me a little nervous. “I don’t really wanna drop 4th period lit.” It’s the only class I have with Evie.

“Well Mr. Cortez, that’s the only option you have. Or you would have to take another foods class instead of the AP. Those are available throughout the day. But honestly, with a school like Charleston? It’s better for you to take the AP.”

I go back and forth in my mind for a good minute. Ultimately, I make the decision, knowing that Evie will support me. “I guess I’ll drop fourth block Lit.”
