Sam felt like a total moron. Most of the previous night came in blurry flashes, nothing too concrete in his memory...nothing except for the fact that he had kissed Gabriel...

That image seemed permanatly etched into his brain, something he wouldn't soon forget. He couldn't help but wonder if maybe that was why Gabe left in such a hurry. Maybe he'd royally fucked up and now he'd lost one of his only friends here.

His life was a fucking disaster.

He downed his coffee and tried to push the feelings away. He couldn't deny being worried that he had totally wrecked his friendship with Gabe. Sam rinsed his mug and went for a shower to try to ease the tension from hi body.

Though hazy from the alcohol, the memory of the kiss still flashed through his mind and made his knees shake. Gabriel had tasted like the whiskey they had shared and cotton candy. His lips, though unmoving, were soft and warm. Sam licked his lips and swallowed hard.

His phone beeped on the counter, breaking him from his very distracting thoughts. It was Jess telling him she'd meet him at the fountain in twenty minutes. He shoved Gabriel to the back of his mind and hurried to get dressed.

Dean was already gone by the time Sam was heading out. It was already hot and Sam regretted not grabbing a water bottle.

The fountain came into view and then he saw Jess. Her curls were wild and free and popped brightly against her baby blue dress. She was blinding in the sunlight and for a second, Sam forgot how to breathe. She smiled and waved when she saw him.

She wrapped her arms around him. "Hey Sam, I'm really glad you came!"

He blushed. "Why wouldn't I?"

"Wasn't sure if you'd be hanging out with Gabriel again today. Didn't want to bug you." She laughed. "I know how much you guys like to hang out."

Sam shuffled his feet. "Well I like hanging out with you too."

"Well I am glad." She tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear.

"Did you have anything in particular planned?"

"I was wondering if you'd like to check out the pool? There are usually a lot of little kids but, swimming is always fun."

"Uh, I don't have my suit, but I can head home and grab it..."

"Ok! Want me to come with?"

He wasn't sure he wanted to run the risk of his dad seeing Jess but he also really liked spending time with her and he wasn't ready for her to leave even for a second.

"Yeah, yeah you can come with me."

She smiled wide and laced her fingers with his as they walked up the road towards Sam's house.

"So where is Gabe anyway?" She asked after a few minutes of silence.

"He had to work, he left my house pretty early."

"It's cool you guys get along so well. I've always admired him in a way but have always been too intimidated to actually talk to him."

Sam smiled. "He's an interesting guy." After another minute of silence he spoke again. "So how is school anyway?"

Jess shrugged. "Normal I guess. The teachers are all pretty laid back about a lot of stuff, it's mostly a few students you have to watch out for."

"I really hope we have classes together, it would make it a little easier for me."

"I hope so too Sam." She leaned in closer to his side. "I'm glad you're here."

He felt his cheeks burn again. "Thanks."
