Chapter Ten

 (Jeremy)

Working through It

I let out a sigh as I lay there next to Hope, the most beautiful girl I had been with since Vicky. My heart throbbed at the thought of my wife lying in that hospital bed telling me that she loved me so much to let me go so that I would move on when she passed. Colton was too young to remember her passing and that saddened me even more, knowing that he would grow up without knowing the amazing woman she was. My eyes welled with tears at the thoughts of what could have been between us and what actually happened.

“I miss you my love,” I spoke to the empty room. I wasn’t one to believe in heaven or hell, but I was sure of one thing, she was up there watching over me and Colton with every mission and every new thing that was thrown our way.

I snuggled closer to Hope and my breathing fell in sync with hers as I drifted off to sleep.

The sounds of laughter filled my ears as I woke. I heard Hopes familiar laugh and the laugh of Colton as I got up and threw on a t-shirt. When I walked out into the living room I couldn’t help but stare at the mess they had made. Colton was sitting n the counter next to the stove and Hope was standing there in her robe, hair a mess and covered in flour.

“Go back to bed!” she ordered as she saw me standing in the doorway, leaning with my hands above my head.

“Daddy!” Colton exclaimed hoping off the counter and running to me. I loved the way his arms felt as they wrapped around my waist.

“Good morning baby,” I whispered into his ear and picked him up and carried him to the kitchen where the bomb of flour had gone off.

“What is up with this monstrosity?” I questioned hope raising an eyebrow as she blushed and shied away.

“Well, if you must know, Colton and I were attempting to make you breakfast in bed,” she smiled and it melted every part of my being. Colton reached out and took hold of the counter and slid back into his position at the mixing bowl.

“How very sweet of you,” I said, “but couldn’t you of made a little less of a mess?” I gowned at the thought of cleaning up this mess.

They both were very proud of the breakfast they had managed, with a little help from me of course. I couldn’t help but be happy that Colton was treating Hope nicely and that they were getting along. It would not be good to have a rambunctious kid hanging around and me be the only one who could calm him down. Hope was great with him and that only gave me a glimmer of hope for an actual future with Hope.

It sickened me to think of this mission coming to an end and having to give up Hope and what we had going on here.

“Hey so I have some good news and some bad news,” Hope said walking out of the bathroom.

“Well what’s the good news?” I asked, after the way it had been going, I was every so afraid to hear of the badness.

“They think that they have solid prints on the backpack from the park, they are running it through the database and the list of suspects before telling us what is going down. Now for the bad news: I think that my nephew is somehow involved in all this,” she said, her head falling to her hands as she sits on the couch next to me.

            “What do you mean?”

“Well, my sister said that he had been acting funny and that there was evidence of drug abuse in his room. She found things like pills and syringes in there.” She didn’t look happy as she told me.

“What does this mean for him though?”

“Well we can’t really do anything until week now for sure, but my dad is going to look into everything.” She stands up and walks into the office where we have been keeping all of our notes. It doesn’t make any sense why her nephew would be involved unless there were someone he knew orcidstrating it.

“I’ll have Sargent Brez forward me a list of all your nephews’ friends and acquaintances so that we can do a cross reference. If he is somehow involved I will help you find out. I know good attorneys that can help him out too,” I rub my hand down her back. As my fingers touch her my body sets on fire and I moan at what she does to my body. I fight my erection as she doesn’t seem to notice as she types away at the computer.

“I’m going to go take a shower,” I say turning my body from her face. Oh the things I want to do with this woman. She nods as I walk out, entertained by what she is reading on the computer.

Colton was down for a nap so I took the much needed time to attend to my now hardened erection. As I adjusted the shower to the right temperature, I felt warm hands snake around my body.

Shivers traveled down my spine as Hope took ahold of my shirt and tossed it over into a pile of laundry.

“Whoa, someone is excited,” she said grasping my boxers and pulling them down. My erection pressed forward and she pushed me into the shower with her clothes still on. I fixed that real quick as our moment of passion turned into so much more.

I couldn’t have been happier the moment she let me into her heart and into her pants so to speak. I was fighting off urges to jump her bones since I first new she was going to be my partner. She was a fighter and that couldn’t have been sexier.

I moaned as she worked her way with me.
