Sibling Revelry
If you believe that Raksha Bandhan is much more than exchanging gifts, don't be shy to let your sibling know how special they are.... You may fight glore, yet its pretty much of an un-shakable bond. You may place the worst pranks and yet fall bock on each other as much. It most definitely shouldn't take just Raksha Bandhan to understand how much your brother/sister means to you, though at times discrepancies do creep in. so, if it has been long since you have done something to make your sibling feel special, here are a few ways you can rekindle the bond #Surprise surprise... It need not necessary to be gifts. Do something sweet for them, which they may not expect you to do otherwise. For instance, if your sister always hated that long pony tail of your, go chop it off. Likewise, if your brother has always fancied your big black car, which he isn't allowed to drive, toss him the keys so he could take his friends out. Turn the no-no rules around and the smile on their face will be worth all the effort. Says 7 years old Akash Roy,"I,m going clean up my room spick and span, because my sister hates things getting messy. I hope she notice it." #Chat up It's ironical, but many a times people living in the same house end up interacting the least. No matter how late you get back to home, try yo have a 10 minute heart-to-heart conversation with your sibling. Imagine, you can crib away to glory, but you won't get judged. And if you thought younger should only listen to advice, try taking some from them once-a-while. It might do you good. "it was my younger brother who helped me deal with my break-up. I don't know what I would have done otherwise," says 20 years old Priti Menon. #Stand By Each Other At times it can get very difficult to communicate certain viewpoints to your parents about your brother/sister's requirement , so that an unnecessary argument can be avoided. It could be something as small as their choice of college , but support them in their decision. Stand up for him/her, no matter what, because there is no better felling when you know, you have your have your own sibling to bank on. #A box full of memories Be it Raksha Bandhan or even birthdays, one of the best gifts you can give each other are old time souvenirs, which you may have left behind years ago. Create an album full of pictures with the two of you, make a CD with all the movies you guys watched and together, scribble a note on how much it means to have them around and more. This way, even if you are away from each other for long, these gifts will keep memories alive. And most importantly amongst all this, you still hold the license stay upset with each other for days together. After all, you can afford to take for granted. - Omkar
