Falling for the Boss

Author's Note-

Here's the next chapter. It's quite short, but I figured it was better this way, short and sweet. I don't really have anything else to say except thanks for all the feedback that I recieved on the last chapter. Also, this story has been entered into the Watty Awards, so please, if you like the story, comment and vote. I pulled up to Mr. Mathew's house right on time. Well, I wouldn't really call it a house. It was more like a huge, million pound mansion. I parked the car in front of the mansion, and stepped out.

I rang the doorbell hesitantly. I'm always nervous starting a new job, and this was no different.  A few minutes later, an older man in a black and white suit came to the door. He smiled and put his arm out, gesturing for me to come inside. He didn't sound old when I was talking to him on the phone, but I guess voices can be deceiving. "Mr. Matthews, right? Hi! I'm Natalie." I said in a perky tone.

He smiled amusingly and laughed. "No, dear. I'm Harrington, the butler." He clarified.

Oh god. I feel like a complete idiot. Of course, Mr. Mathews wouldn't answer the door. Obviously, he would be too rich for that. Now, I'm afraid of what my boss is going to be like. Is he some old, posh snob? I really hope not...

"Sir! Miss Crawford is here!" Harrington shouted politely.

I heard a familiar voice shouting that he was coming. Where had I heard that voice? He appeared a minute later, just hanging up his phone. He looked up at me and gaped. I gaped at him too.

It was the man, the man from the shopping centre, the man that we met at Starbucks, my mystery man. Oh. My. God! Was he Mr. Matthew's son? If he was, this is going to be an interesting job...

"Um, so you're Mr. Matthew's son? This is a coincidence." I said, a little uncomfortably since both he and Harrington were staring at me. I could feel my cheeks heating up, a pink blush covering my cheeks now.

He rolled his eyes. "My father is a grumpy, old man that lives in London. I am the only Mr. Matthews in this household," He said with a smirk.

"Oh." Did this mean what I thought it meant?

He chuckled, and I looked down. What have I gotten myself into? There was an awkward silence, which I hate, so I decided to fill it, "So, you said you had a room for me?"

"Oh, yes! Follow me." He said. He led me up the stairs, down a long hallway, around a corner and we walked up to 3 rooms. He pointed at the left one. "Your room." He pointed at the middle. "En-suite bathroom with two entrances." He pointed at the door on the right. "Any cleaning supplies you might need are in there. Do you have any questions for me?"

"Do I start work right now?" I asked. He never told me when I would actually start, just when to come over.

He looked at his watch on this right wrist and said, "There's no point of you starting today. You can start tomorrow. I will make a list of the main things I want done, Nat- sorry, I mean Ms. Crawford."

I frowned. I needed to get over this little crush. Mr. Matthew's was being very formal, why can't I? He said a brief goodnight with a polite nod, and I mumbled a quick goodbye before watching him walk back down the stairs. I turned around and walked into my new bedroom.  From that very moment, I knew that this was going to be a very interesting job.

Here is todays question: What is the weirdest dream that you've ever had?

I've had lots, so I won't be able to tell you all of them, but one of the most recent ones was that I was going to school on an elephant with the all of the Britians Got Talent judges! Haha, it was really weird...
